I know it’s been a few months since I’ve responded to this thread, but I thought I’d update it. I finally got around to replacing the power steering pump gear. I did use the wits end tool to install the new gear and torqued everything to spec. Sure enough, no noise! However, I did do an oil...
Throttle body cleaner will not be enough for the upper intake manifold. Even soaking it in simple green wasn’t enough for me, had to pressure wash it afterwards to get the 25 years of carbon buildup off.
as for the throttle body… simple green spray, throttle body cleaner and a brush were...
No, I cleaned the throttle body by hand. I didn’t order the lines from Toyota, I got all the correct line sizes from a Honda dealership I work for. Everything went together well.

I wasn’t able to take pictures of the gear but I inspected it close and wasn’t able to see a damn thing wrong with...
Just realized the maintenance records say that the ps pump was replaced back in October. Not to say that it couldn’t be that but just wanted to mention that. I’ve also noticed it only sounds that way once it’s warmed up.
Just bought this 1997 LX450 from a dealership on the east coast. Had it shipped to my house across the country and it just arrived. Everything checks out except one thing, does this sound like the engine is knocking? This is my first 1FZ and I have no experience with them or how the should...
