We just replaced rear springs on a taco, used a 4" angle grinder with a cutting wheel, made quick work of it. Had to cut the pins and u-bolts!!! Pry the frame away from the spring to provide room on the inside for the cutting wheel.

My 72 looks similar in color to yours, but just reversed, with orange behind the red. I thought my original color was freeborn red, but I think now the original was orange? What year is yours?
I have just completed a carb rebuild and found that same weight and ball were missing. It ran good for the previous owner, so I put it back together and runs better now. I just need to adjust the carb to slow the idle. I do not have any backfiring issue at idle or underload without the weight...
Does anyone think it is worth over $4K? I know it is worth what someone will pay, but I am only asking since I have a 'parts 68/69' FJ40 in about the same condition, but I don't want to pull it apart if it has that much value??
Whats a FJ40 tub trailer worth, if you don't mind me asking? I have a 68 (or 69) parts vehicle that I am thinking of making a trailer out of just for the fun of it, but don't know if all of the parts are worth as much as keeping it whole?
Thank you for that response. I picked up a 4 speed a little early in my project due to a great opportunity, and was starting to wonder if it would be worth the swap. I still have a while to go before I attempt it, but due to your experience it sounds like I made a good decision.
Good potential that some of the brake 'slave cylinders' are rusted and are not working properly. I had the same problem then with a few new brake cylinders, they freed up, now I am on to the adjustment portion of the drum brakes. There are a number of options to resolve that issue, fairly...
