So I bought a couple of 1616 batteries based on @trdcorolla's recommendation. They're way too small. Maybe it's a non-stock fob? Is that possible? I guess I'll try the "bring it to Batteries Plus" option and see if they can figure out what to do.
I need to replace the battery in both of my key fobs. It turns out that the OEM CR 2016 battery is 19.89mm in diameter, and the Duracell DL/CR 2016 is 19.97mm. That .08mm means that the dang Duracell doesn't fit. Can anyone who's replaced their battery remember what brand they bought that fit?
2004 Land Cruiser, 198k miles. Just finished replacing my shocks and now there's a fairly loud squeaking from the front end as the truck moves over bumpy surfaces. Is this just normal noise from the new cushions settling in? Did the changed geometry due to the new shocks set off a ball joint or...
I was finally able to get it. I used an extender (borrowed from a neighbor) on the floor jack and was able to get the stud to poke out enough to grab with the nut. Thanks for all the good advice and suggestions.
Now if only the top nut on the driver's side would come loose... (PB Blaster and...
It's an OEM shock replacing an OEM shock. I'm reusing the old retainer plates with the new cushions that came with the shocks. The new cushions are at least twice as thick as the old ones - I assume that they get squashed over time.
I'm sorry I can't post a pic - phone camera isn't working...
Tried it three different ways and still no luck. Raising the LCA doesn't seem to alter the amount of the stud that's showing above the retainer plate. The lower (gas) cylinder compresses on the way up but the upper cylinder doesn't move.
I've gotten the old shock out and the new one in place. Unfortunately the threaded rod that comes out of the top of the shock isn't long enough to clear the new rubber cushion and the two retainer plates so that I can thread on the new top nut. I thought maybe both sets of cushions and retainer...
If you don't want or need to lift the truck then OEM is your best bet. Toyota parts are generally as good as you can get unless you're looking for something special like adjustable upper control arms (which you don't need if you're keeping stock ride height). But when @utflowerman says...
They're OEM shocks. The dealer I bought them from sells them unassembled. FSM says to use a press, but it sounds like that won't be necessary. Thanks for the tip!
I'm about to do the shocks and springs in a 2004 LC (my first big effort at wrenching on this beast - I'm starting with something not too complicated - I hope!). The rears come with separate bushings that have to be pressed in. If anyone in the Bay Area has a press and is willing to help me out...
Bumping an old thread. Just watched the video and noticed that he does the work with the whole vehicle supported on a single floor jack. Not only that, but the jack has a block of wood on it. That whole assembly moves noticeably while he's jacking up the axle - he's lucky it didn't slide out and...
Wheels are 5 x 150 bolt pattern. Tires are Firestone Transforce AT M+S LT275/70R18. Tires have plenty of tread left, but are getting old (mfg 05/15). One wheel is missing center cap.
