    Why is 24 volt voltage regulator doing this???

    If i hold the contacts closed it works fine. Otherwise it just opens and closes and does nothing. Previous to this i had an overcharging issue and found one of the 3 wires at the green alternator plug broken. Since repairing it does not work unless i hold those contacts open. 1982 BJ42
