I have a similar ringing sound under power which goes away when I press in the clutch. Sounds like from same area. I had been in desert and was cleaning undercarriage from crud and mud and thought maybe something lodged itself somewhere.
I was thinking of getting one of those wire fed camera scope things off Amazon and running it down the fill hole to see what’s doin. The also sell little hooks and pinchers on wires. If I’m the type of wrench what drops tubes in fill holes I’m not the type that can simply drop a transmission...
whilst doing a drain/fill of my 87 FJ60 Trans/TC I uhhh dropped a short piece of clear plastic tubing down the full hole of the trans. I had those damn squeeze quart valvoline gear oil bottles and the fill hole was in an awkward spot. I knew I had a pump thing in the garage, but I found a 3-4”...
Maybe I should take a video, but I’m hunting a gravely sound under power. Idles fine, revs fine, and goes away when clutch depressed /coasting. Grabbed my rear DS handlebar/pull-up style and there’s just a touch of rotation, just a tiny bit. When I oomph the whole DS watching the pinion flange...
Look up the torque spec for the upper 4 bolt “top cap” you have bearings under there. Maybe they’re loose and allowing seepage. But yeah. Time for a knuckle job.
How much slip yoke should I be seeing while parked level? I am hearing a slight gravely scratchy sound under power after adding some grease- this is up front. UJs seem solid. No play and no leaks anywhere. It’s about 3+ inches of cylinder.
Having trouble getting new grease to push old out. I’ve swapped the Zerk but still not taking new grease. Before I run a torch nearby the fitting to liquefy some old junk, where will I expect old to push out? Just adjacent to the zerk or at edge of bushing?
when i did my side cover gasket I had to remove the oil sending unit/line... when i replaced it i had to be really careful on reattaching it in the correct spot otherwise i'd get some low/no oil pressure reading.
