you knowni had a 16' ages ago and have had a 20' for 12 years now and I honestly think it tows better. i have never had an issue with turning radius. Mine is a tilt deck though and has more of a 50/50 axle placement than some non tilt trailers with more of a 60/40 axle placement.
Thank you for doing all the hard work so i can copy it when i get to doing mine. hahaha I have a slightly more centered rear on my FF 80 though with the short side lengthened.
I would be interested in your DXF as well.
We use Solid works here. I was a long time Autocad/ inventor user and switched to solid works with my latest job, we do alot of small part and machine design so it works well in solid works.
Maybe we should start a Ih8mud cloud for cut files? I...
that is a nice spot, right across from Bald mt rd to get up into the trail system quick.
that is a nice looking trailer. is that a triple 8K axle trailer. I would love to get soemthing like that someday. how steep is your ramp when loading incase you wanted to load a lower clearance type car...
yeah the 80 is a little on the heavy side but i have had good luck with my 37's and about 4-5psi.
If you have been to rimrock/funnyrocks from Pasco you probably drive right by my house. we are on 12 about 2 miles before 410 and 12 split.
So I was wondering if you guys could help me out. I have been having a weird issue I need to diagnose. my garage is full at the moment so i have been tinkering on it outside and need some more directed diagnosis.
I welded a new muffler on and shortly afterward i started having this issue. I...
you could always look the other direction and drop a 4 door tracker body on the fj80 chassis.
the real question is would you rather spend all that time building and wrenching or out on the trail enjoying the outdoors?
going 9.5 in the front will push you to low pinion. but if you are sticking to 4.88's you could move to the 100 series 9.5" that has a 32 spline pinion option and a 32 spline axle shaft ability.

based on the picture you texted me with the missing ring gear teeth and the pinion marks on the carrier I would not put too much stock in your current backlash numbers.
Like you said even handling 8 years of your driving is impressive. lol
fast forward to this last weekend.
a little playing in the snow.

mom was away the other weekend visiting friends so i took the kiddos to the nearby dunes to play around a little. new springs did great, but i need to do some more tuning on the motor, got a total average of 8.5 MPG on the way there and back at only 60-65 MPH and no AC on.......

next improvement was thanks to @Marco Lau and @baldilocks. I messaged Marco and asked how he had liked his Icon springs and he told me he was taking them off because they were a little soft for his setup. He said i could have them if I would cover the shipping! turns out he was meeting up with...
also went and desmogged the old girl fully. I went cheap and just cut the nuts off the air injection manifold and welded up the holes.
I also just added a circle of steel welded to the nut on the exhaust manifold but I seem to have misplaced that pictured.........
Only cost here was the new...
Sorry it has been a long time since an update. I went ahead and welded up the frame and swapped in my spare steering box with a good sector shaft. unfortunately shortly after it started leaking so now i have to pull it back out for a reseal it. i have been doing the lazy thing and just topping...
I have to say this build and pictures like this are what motivate me to want to sell everything to dive in and finish my 40...... someday.
Keep up the good work!
