    Toyota 3B inline fuel lines

If they're larger ID then buy brass barb joiners off the shelf from any repco/supercheap that go from one size to the other, and a short length of the smaller size hose. Or do the dodgy and put the bigger hose straight on and just crank the f out the jubilee clips.

    2LT high EGT low power

If you've been babying the engine for ages, the first time you thrash it all the crap building up on the inside of the exhaust gets burnt off. Hence the dirty smoke. 1000f is too cold for full noise egt preturbo. No wonder your truck is slow, you need to turn up the fuel.

How much boost or spool time am i losing if my turbo isnt as close to the exhaust ports as possible?

Also the obvious one for flange thickness that I forgot to mention, 12mm gives you more meat for filing it flat at the mating surfaces once you've finished welding. Because the outer edges of the flange will pull up towards the side you're welding. Even if you tack the flange down to something...

How much boost or spool time am i losing if my turbo isnt as close to the exhaust ports as possible?

I don't think the length would make a noticeable difference. Look how long the flow path from head to turbo is on equal length runners manifolds. For the flanges, I'd use 12mm both for resistance to warping but also to allow for more taper in the hole. In other words your manifold flange I...

    H55F Compatibility

Yeah bro, the mystery short bellhousings are from Dyna trucks. Presumably running the 2wd version of the h55f. They must have a super short input shaft. Interestingly the later 15bf powered Dynas use an identical length bellhousing, which suits the h15x gearboxes. I bought a spare s***ty...

    3B engine swap

Are you swapping motors due to a bad diaphragm in the injection pump? Because that's just mad if so

    HELP!! Toyota 3B handbrake/transfer case

Is there any play in the transfer output shaft? One reason they leak is because the bearings are worn. Or the oil seal could be damaged, and/or the shaft worn where the seal rides. If the oil level was too high, check if the gearbox oil is low. That's fairly common on worn h55f boxes, that oil...

Toyota LandCruiser 70 Series 2.8-litre turbo diesel four-cylinder coming, V8 to live on

I think quads and side by sides are used more in Nz compared to Aussie. The average farm is probably a fair bit smaller, but also the amount of steep hill country and boggy wet paddocks also make a full size 4wd less viable. Here in the Manawatu you're more likely to see old Suzuki vitaras and...

    Which engine?

How much boost do you see flat out? Ie foot down up a hill. 1300f/700c egt is pretty hot. I would have thought you would get much more boost out of a gturbo at cruise if your egts are that high. If that's what you're wastgated to, then running more boost would be most people's advice. If the...

    Which engine?

All of those engines are going to disappoint you in stock form in your vehicle. Maybe less so the 1hdfte. All of them can be "tuned up" to a performance level that will make you happy, including your 12ht. It's whether they will last long producing a high amount of torque which is really what...

    Which engine?

For overlanding I'd be looking to get slightly more go out of the 12ht, and settle for the big girl being a bit sluggish. It's hard to believe any of the toyota motors in contention are going to have a long life when moving along nearly 5ton day in day out running significantly more fuel/torque...

Has anyone done a Common Rail Conversion on 13BT?

Probably easier and cheaper to put bigger elements in the 13bt pump

MATH+Logic: An engineering approach in search for a perfect TURBO.

Nope the twinscroll housing is bigger, 8.5cm. I'd have to reread posts from the time to be sure, but I think max load egt dropped 50cc from the 7cm, and 100cc from the 5.5cm which also had slightly smaller wheels. The twinscroll spooled up the best out of the 3.

MATH+Logic: An engineering approach in search for a perfect TURBO.

If you wanted to go holset, there's a twinscroll turbine housing that fits the he221. Runs very well on my 13bt, lowered the full load egt by 100c vs the single scroll setup on the same fueling. I've built a manifold for my 15bf motor, but that project's on hold for the moment so can't tell you...

What Did You Do To Your Diesel Today (WDYDTYDT)

I’ve been working on this twinscroll manifold for the 15bf motor I’ve put in my bj73 project. Very similar to the one I did for my 13bt last year, this one has gone way quicker though. The end is in sight with these last pieces cut this evening. Sometimes I use these welding magnets. Most of...

    13BT upgraded turbo...again

Just over 20psi I think. I later found out I had a boost leak from installing my inlet manifold gasket upside down, which would have been making the turbo work harder.

    Builds 1988 BJ74 “Number 1”

@FJBen are you able to find a sharper price on the excedy? I got the safari tuff for $500nz, which is about $300us. That included having my flywheel skimmed. Normally prices workout far more expensive here than in the us. I bought direct from the nz excedy importer.

    15b-ft or not to be?

From what I've read on 4btswaps.com that would be good. But I don't have any 1st hand experience so don't take my word for it. Based on running the 5.5cm, 7cm and 8.5cm twinscroll he221w on my 13bt, the 7cm housing didn't lose too much low down torque to the smaller 5.5cm version. Based on that...

    15b-ft or not to be?

Pretty sure that's variable geometry, rather than wastegated? I don't know anything about that if so, but I think most factory applications use the ecu to manage the vanes, but it is possible to use a boost controller to do something similar, but not totally straight forward. Hard to believe a...
