Hey all, I just want to let everyone know, I sold the cruiser last night. I appreciate the interest and want to wish you all good luck in finding a truck.
Thanks again!
I have a 1967 FJ40 for sale. I have owned it for almost four years now and since, put a lot of work into it, but sadly, I just don’t have to time anymore to tinker around with it.
Here is a list of what it has:
-Chevy 350 with a quadrajet carb (25,000 miles on rebuild)
-SM465...
Hey Steve, do you still have the booster? I may be interested, could you send me a pic or shoot me a message with your phone number? I live in Fife, WA, just south of you.
Thanks!
Bill T.
Anyone have a windshield wiper arm and rear view mirror they want to get rid of? My 40 is a '67, I think any of the mid to late 60's parts will work.
Thanks,
Bill
I've seen stuff similar to what SOR calls "roll bar tape" at guitar center. I thinks its called gaf tape or something. I don't know if its cheaper, but at least if there is a store near by, you wouldn't need to pay shipping.
I bought my radiator from them too (Radiator Barn), good place to buy from. I run it with a tuarus fan and a SPAL fan control. Like what others have said, this issue has been discussed in great detail. From what I have seen, the key to cooling is a shroud, that's why I think the taurus fans...
Thanks for the comments! Yeah, the V8 is nice....except on the wallet! Oh well, I didn't buy this thing to save money at the pump. Painting was a blast......although I think I killed a few brain cells, even with wearing a respirator.
Well, it looks like its my turn for the ROTW. I bought my 1967 FJ40 about two and half years ago. My dad had one when I was kid and I thought it was coolest rig ever. I remember cruising around with the top and doors off. I vowed from then (even though I was only 5) that I would own one some...
Looks great Alan! I appreciate the info, as we discussed, I almost pulled the trigger on one these. So the windjammer didn't come with an insert for the console area? I've seen some where it has a "zipper" style insert for this. Maybe its for the more generic models.
I believe all those auto parts places use partsamerica, at least Schucks and Auto Zone does. I need wheel cylinders for my rear drivers side. What year are you searching? Mine is a 67, which they only list front cylinders for, so I just bumped it up a year and found the rear's for 39.00 a...
I'll try adjusting the brakes some more, maybe the shoes are too far out. Usually three-four pumps gets me pretty good pedal feel. I didn't rebuild the master myself, I bought it rebuilt. I just assumed it had the residual valves in it since the large (brass?) screws that the brakes screw...
I can't seem to get my brakes to hold a constant pressure. Need some insight here.
I went through and replaced all my brake lines, installed and bench bled a rebuilt master cylinder (from Parts America), used brake booster and bled the hell out of everything. I have to pump the brakes a few...
I just finished doing an SM465 swap on my rig. It was pretty easy, especially since I had never even dropped a transmission let alone the engine. Here is how mine went:
Transmission w/ bellhousing: 100 bucks
Drill tap the output shaft: 100 bucks
Adapter plate from classic cruisers: 400 bucks...
