Thanks for the replies everyone. Unfortunately this is the fuel pump. Not getting any action with the paper clip test. fuel filter is also pretty gone. Looking forward to whatever benefits my lie on the other side of this work.
1989 FJ62 with 254k miles. Have had it 10 years.
Carried out my normal morning routine this morning. Live in the mountains where it’s winter/cold right now, so went out to start my truck to let it run for 10-15 minutes before driving it. It started fine.
Go back inside to wrap up a few...
Thanks for all the replies. I've had this cruiser for 10 years. It's possible a leaf was added, but I don't think so.
Upon further inspection, I saw that the bracket is actually cracked on the bottom side.
Ultimately, I think I just need new springs. A small lift has been on the list for a...
Noticed this today while I was doing some work on my rear brakes.
Apologies for the poor description (leaf springs popping out of bracket?), but I really don't know how to describe it. The picture included below should be pretty self-explanatory.
My questions are: how big of an issue is...
Thanks for the reply and the info. When I felt the brakes getting a bit spongy, I turned my truck off for about 20 minutes. When I continued on, I had the car in the lowest gear to achieve what little engine braking was available to me. Got down fine but the first half was a new experience for sure.
I took my '89 FJ62 to the top of the ski hill in Aspen via the summer road. It's a lot of switch backs with a number of sections that are quite steep.
On the descent, I experienced significant brake fading and stopping power that was very much reduced. I really had to constantly pump the pedal...
OK - i think I figured this out for real this time. It was the same issue on both latches. There is a spring-action piece on the other side of the latch that holds it in place after it's latched around the latch post. It was frozen in the open position on both latches, so it wasn't holding the...
the latch is not straight across - it's in the position that is ready to accept the latch post. I close it slowly and see the latch accepting and rotating around the latch post. the issue I'm having (and I'm having it with both latches, so they are either both broken or I'm missing something...
Updating this / looking for further feedback -
I have removed the upper hatch latch and it is fairly clean and moving freely. I can spin the latching mechanism with my fingers and feel it spring back in to place. I did order a replacement from cruiserparts, but it is in far worse condition...
Thanks for the replies.
After seeing @mattressking photo, I realized that when my lock was "unlocked", the action was not fully rotated down.
I was able to get a flathead on the lever there inside the access panel and give it a few pops. After that, I was able to hop out of the truck, fully...
Hey All -
I've been dealing with a non-functioning upper rear hatch for the last month or so. It was an "i'll fix it later" scenario for me, and "later"has arrived as I need to load up the truck with some stuff that won't fit through the rear doors.
I got in this morning and opened up the...
Hey Guys -
Been searching the forums for a while looking for some info regarding rear speaker wire harnesses for an FJ62. Replacing the speakers now, and ordered the recommended Metra harnesses (Metra 72-8104) and they do not fit with the factory wiring. I had read on here that this was the...
