    Temp sender wiring

Ok, so I pulled the temp sender bung and as I suspected there was no thread tape between it and the cylinder head. There is also no thread tape between the sender and the bung. So it should be grounded properly. My knowledge of how to use the multimeter is limited. It does have an auto...

    Distributor condenser?

So if it’s a condenser then I’m guessing the distributor is either off of an earlier model or non-USA? Anyone else with condensers on their dizzy around the ‘77 era? I know SOR sells condensers but they’re either for an earlier or non-USA 40.

    Distributor condenser?

After installing a new cylinder head I’ve been trying to get the timing right and messing with the distributor a bit. In doing so this silver barrel piece broke off of the wire that attached it to the distributor. It’s on a Feb ‘77 FJ40 (Cali spec). Wondering if this is a condenser? Also is...

    Temp sender wiring

I tried testing ohms with red lead to sender tab and black lead to ground. Not getting a good ohms reading so I may also replace my old multimeter.

    Temp sender wiring

It’s a new cylinder head that had the temp sender fitting already installed. I bought the cylinder head from Poser so it’s legit. I screwed the sender into the fitting and did not use any sealant or Teflon tape. I do have a multimeter but not a test light. Maybe I’ll see if I could get a...

    Temp sender wiring

I've been trying to get the temp gauge working on my '77 FJ40 and I've hit a road block. When I purchased from PO it had an aftermarket instrument cluster in it. I pulled it out and got the oil gauge working but can't seem to get a readout on the temp gauge. I found what I think is the wire...

    Wanted 2F cylinder head for a ‘77 FJ40

Thanks for all who replied to this thread. I ended up getting a cylinder head from Poser since we live relatively close to each other. I installed that with an OEM head gasket from cityracer. Just need to put the side panel back on. I had to remove it because a couple of pushrod lifters were...

    Pushrods not seating

Yeah, was also thinking maybe they were stuck to the bottom of the rod.

    Pushrods not seating

I was wondering how the lifters came out of the bore. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Thanks. Just got the rocker assembly back on.

    Pushrods not seating

So my next question is this. The two lifters are slightly raised. When i put the rocker assembly back on it seems to be raised up slightly (i.e. the two rocker towers that are adjacent to the raised lifters don't quite make contact with where they seat on the head). Are they pulled down when...

    Pushrods not seating

You guys were right. Pulled the side cover and discovered two of the cam followers out of place. I got them back into place but they’re still slightly raised. Guessing it’s because the position of the cam?

    Pushrods not seating

Tried to look down there but couldn’t see any obstruction. Don’t remember it being an issue pulling them out. Lifters we’re pulled.

    Pushrods not seating

Yes, the pushrods belong to this engine. If I discover the lifters stuck in the up position is repositioning fairly easy?
