What have you done to your 100 Series this week?

I had to cancel two trips now already due to Covid19 restrictions in South Africa. So to keep me "happy" I added a new part to my travel setup in the LC. When I travel alone into the bush I sleep inside the Cruiser. I'm a short guy so not a problem for me and no having to climb into a RTT (going...

Lift solution for 100 Series VX LC

Hello Andrew. Thought I'll give you some feedback. The 2866's settled nicely but I had some extra bounce with the stock shocks. So I've matched it this week with the OME 60001's in the front and 60002's in the back. Great results and I now have a smooth ride over the bumps.

What have you done to your 100 Series this week?

Did something a bit less Land Cruiser technical this weekend. One of the joys of my LC is that is brings me to great places where I can see nature and play with my cameras. The big lens and body is 7kg's and is killing me when lying on my lap during safari. So I made a plan with a place to rest...

What have you done to your 100 Series this week?

The weight of the additions and the full sub tank dropped the rear onto the bump stops with the old standard coils. It was replaced with new OME 2866 coils. Every thing is back to standard level again. Old and new coils together Before the coil replacement After the coil replacement...

What have you done to your 100 Series this week?

Next step modification for over-landing. 1. New rear bumper with wheel carrier (Colour coded). Underneath the hook is an Anderson plug to charge aux batteries in a camper trailer. 2. New diesel sub tank (34 gal) in the place where the spare use to be. 3. Removed the smaller rear seat...

Lift solution for 100 Series VX LC

Thanks for all the support. I've just gone through your Build Thread. Great work you have done. I'm also running the KO2 285/75/16's - love the tyre. What is your total height now at the rear (top of roof to ground)?

    Rubicon Questions

drjman do you have a photo of your car? I'm driving a '98 100 VX with the same setup as you but want to put in the OME 2866 spring because I need some lift after I have added a rear wheel carrier and sub tank.

Lift solution for 100 Series VX LC

I just had the spare removed from under the '98 VX Cruiser to fit a 140l (36 gal) sub tank. The spare is now on a new rear bumper. With the tanks full and the spare at the back, the old lady dropped about 5 cm. What would be the suggestions to get her back to normal height please? My idea is not...

Pros & Cons of Tire Sizes

I liked this site to do comparisons between tyre sizes - TireSize.com - Compare Tire Sizes, Specs, Prices & more . From my own research I'll list the following when you go for bigger size than your OEM tyre: Pro's: 1. More surface contact which will help on off-road driving. 2. Potentially a...

275 vs 285 tyres on 16 in Rims

Ahh ... abit more clear now ;). Thanks guys. So she is heavier and wider which means it takes more effort to push her up the hill :steer::steer::steer: Happy New Year everyone :bounce::bounce2::bounce::cheers:

275 vs 285 tyres on 16 in Rims

Now some more techincal stuff ... and I'm not particularly a tech boffin. The bigger 285's turn at 393 revs/km and the smaller 275's at 414 revs/km. My logic says that the bigger tyre use less turns to complete 1 km and therefore use less energy. This means it should be less fuel consumed. This...

The MUD 100 series Photos thread

The '98 VX is now just run in at 290 000km :clap::clap: This was while crossing the Goukou river in Still-Bay, South Africa. The sunrise photo at the mouth of the river was taken earlier in the day.
