Just bought front and rear cable lockers, what next?

I think I just scored a deal of the century, saw a guy selling a front cable locker for the 60 for $325. Went to pick it up and he threw in a rear as well! Front is in a housing, and rear had been laying out in the rain, but I gave it a wire brush last night and turned out better than I...

Did I just break my transfer case?!

I’m changing the front wheels, so I hit my 4wd button as I pulled up my drive to lock the front axel (probably unnescisary anyway... but don’t want it rolling away) I probably drove 2 meters in 4wd. Going to leave to pick up dinner, started it up, clicked the 4H button off, and rolled it back...

More Starting Issues on the 62 Series

Hey guys, So I've replaced the starter last week - big difference having a starter that fully engages the flywheel, a pleasure to start. But since then - have had a few new issues come up - coincidence or causality I'm not sure! 1. The key doesnt engage the starter half the time - but the...

Request for diagnosis help - starter failing?

Hey guys, This morning when I went to leave for work the old girl wouldn't go. Turned over a few times and then "whirrrrrr" of the starter not engaging the flywheel. Tried a few times, same result. Chug chug chug and then whiiiiiirrrrrrrrr. I assumed low battery (had charged it a couple nights...

LED Upgrade for 60's from Stedi

Hey guys, I've just finished a full LED upgrade of my 62 Series and thought I'd share it here! I created an entry on our vehicle selector for the old girl with all the bulbs I could find on the truck. I work for Stedi - but am posting here because I love our products and stand by them! We are...

Overheating in traffic, anyone running an aux fan?

When I’m jumping off the highway, and usually in a bit of traffic my temp gauge starts to creep up… Especially if I had been running the aircon – then it flies up! Once I can get moving again it cools down fine – so my thinking is that an electric fan or two on the radiator to keep the air...

62 series gearbox acting up - help diagnose?

I just changed my gearbox oil to try and remedy this issue - and although it kinda helped for a while its come back. When pulling away from a stop, if I roll forward a little bit I hit a point where the vehicle feels like in hitting a small ledge on the ground, it feels some resistance, and...

FJ60 / FJ62 tip for getting gearbox oil up into the box

I changed my gearbox oil this morning, and ended up using my 12v air compressor to pressurize the oil can and send the oil up a tube into the gearbox. Worked really well! If anyone is planning to change their box oil I suggest giving this a crack if you dont have a pump on hand. Little writeup...

Where do you guys mount your switches?

One of the perks of my job is fitting out my 62 high top with light bars and spot lights free of charge, and I'm wondering where you legends put your switches for such? I've always been partial to the airplane cockpit look with switches for things on every surface (radio battery bypass, lightbar...

    Erratic rev'ing after installing snorkel...

I installed my snorkel today, and immediately noticed the truck running a bit differently... It seems to be much more touchy when coasting (letting off the accelerator while in gear) a small gust of wind will make it rev / lurch irregularly, and it doesnt feel as smooth as the wheel well intake...

FJ62 Sahara (High top) Roof Rack Build

Any of you legends with a 62 (or 61 in the US?) high top cruiser will be aware that getting a nice looking roof rack is a challenge. I decided to make a rack that's as low profile as possible (only adds 50mm/2" to the roof height!) while also utilizing the wasted space up the front where the...

Any Vic, Aus legends running LPG and know of a decent 10 year stamp guy?

Still trying to get my 85 60 series on the road, passed everything at the roadworthy finally - but they said that the tank had been miss stamped, and the invoice for the LPG tank install is dated 2000. So my LPG tank is actually 17 years old, and long overdue for it's 10 year inspection...

    I removed my FJ62 sunroof

So anyone on Victoria, Australia knows that this weekend rained - alot. And my poor cruiser got pretty soaked inside due to my leaky sunroof. (the Australian 62 series "Sahara" has a factory sunroof, I think the 61 does too?) It was rusty as, and needed alot of manual help to get it to close or...

Doing shackle bushes, what are some tips?

I need to do some shackle bushes. Some in the front, some in the rear. I understand the basic plan - jack it up, take the weight off the spring, pull out the shackle bolts, replace the bushes, rinse and repeat... But I imagine there are some serious tips that you guys have for dealing with the...

Newbie from Melbourne, Australia (with pics!)

Hey guys - just got suggested here from /r/landcruisers subreddit. Just bought a 1985 FJ60(62?) after years of looking and wanting a cruiser. Not my first fourby, but my first cruiser - so may as well be. It's got 560k on the clock, but had an engine swap 150k ago. Runs petrol and LPG, runs...
