I’m considering this one but wanted to see about other older radios that are easily found on eBay. The big bonus on this one is the Bluetooth feature. Might be worth the cost, since I like listening to podcasts.
I recall seeing your radio during my search. I’ve looked for a Kenwood KRC-1006...
I looked through the links and also did a search for stereos, radios, and speakers and couldn’t find what I was looking for. I recall that someone mentioned an Audiovox radio that fit and that you can occasionally find them on eBay. Someone else mentioned a Dual 1222 radio fits but looking at...
The relay is the issue, but it might be the connections on the relay. With the turn signal lever actuated and the lights aren’t working, it will start to work when I tap or jiggle the relay. I’m going to clean the male/female connectors and reattach firmly.
Howdy. I’ve done a quick search on the forum with this title, and there are a ton of old posts with this title. Perusing through the first dozen threads didn’t really help with my particular issue.
My issue is that my turn signals work Intermittently- some days it works, some days it...
Update on my rig:
The problem was a .50 cent plastic cap that closes off one of the ports of the carb.
I recently befriended a cruiser-head that lives close to me and he helped me replace the Holley carb with a newer version of the same model. It was only after we replaced it, that he...
What did you do with the space for the orig radio? Left open and empty or some kind of delete?
I’ve been contemplating what to do for my radio set up. I’ve got a Tuffy center console with a radio slot too, but not really wanting to put the tuner in there. It’s either a RetroSound or I’m even...
Anyone who is looking at one of his “restored” rigs (he flips FJ45s primarily but also FJ40s and other rigs), beware. IME, I’d steer well clear of anything he sells. I bought his “frame-off” restored 1977 FJ40 back in December 2017 off eBay. He claimed it was frame-off restoration. He stated...
Jeff, this was the only vacuum tester I found on Harbor Freight.
Fuel Pump and Vacuum Tester
What about a Compression Tester? Would that be useful?
Compression Test Kit 8 Pc
I’ll try the fuel tanks after doing the gloved hand technique.
Thanks Brooklyn! Heading to Harbor Freight!
I’ll...
Good stuff fellas! Gives me hope that I’ll learn to wrench on my rig. Some minor hurdles I need to overcome are lack of garage space and level ground outside of my garage. I live in a hilly section and driveway climbs to my garage. And then there is the garage issue- it’s full of crap...
Love the job you did on your FJ40! The color is my favorite. But even more, I love that you’re from Italy, and Siena in particular! If there is one place that I have to declare as my favorite city, in my favorite country of Italy, it is Siena!
Post more pics of the 40 in your fabulous city...
My rig which I recently picked 3 months ago needs a lot of work. When I first got it, it wouldn’t pass smog here in Oregon so I had the carb worked on by Paragon Automotive. They got it to pass. I was told all the fluids were old and some had high water content and recommended replacement...
Here are some pics of my Swing Daddy set up. As you can see, in the stowed position, the seat/top tube attachments on the left time bump into the tire. I somewhat negated that by sliding them out of the way of the tire but they are still in the way of the tire a bit. With a little push, I...
I just installed the hitch receiver from CCOT. My thoughts are to use my Yakima Swing Daddy. I suspect the spare will get in the way but only if I were to use the inner bike holders. I think the last two or three spots will be available to use.
I see one on fleabay right now. I’ve read some bad reviews of that unit. But for $50, not a bad option to try. Heck, if it sucks, I’m only it $50 plus my sweat equity.
I just ordered the console from CCOT. I’ll see how I like the idea of the radio in the console. It wasn’t something I...
This is what I was looking for! Doesn’t look too bad with this type or age of unit. Now if I could see examples of the newest radios installed in 40, that would help in my decision making process. IMHO, cutting/trimming the lower dash pads is the biggest deterrent to going with a modern...
Yep I am still considering a Retrosound radio. They look cool but I was thinking the quality and features might not be up to par with the modern units. Just want to see how good or bad new modern radios look when installed. So come on fellas with the modern radios. Show us the goods!
