Cannot find source of knocking/ticking sound

I replaced the belts a couple years ago and they dont appear to be worn out. I don’t know maybe for the chirp I very well could have spilled a bit of coolant on one of the belts when I pulled the reservoir hose out from the reservoir to make sure everything looks fine in there. The fact the...

Cannot find source of knocking/ticking sound

About 10 days ago some smoke started coming from the engine and I heard a light knocking/ticking noise and eventually it was accompanied by a bit of a chirping sound. I hit the throttle a bit and the ticking sound increased in frequency. The temperature was fine so I knew it wasn’t the cooling...

Humming noise at idle after few minutes of driving?

Just spent awhile cleaning all the pulleys and their contacts really well and now the noise is gone. Also found that one of my tensioners (of course the one I didnt have time to check earlier) was somewhat loose, so double checked to snug that one down this time. I run a gutted smog pump and...

Humming noise at idle after few minutes of driving?

A humming nosie comes from the engine at idle after driving around for a few minutes. Its not there when I start it up, and when it is there, it goes away when I give it gas. For example, say im driving down to the store. It wont be there when I start it up, but will usually arrive at maybe the...

Trying to dial in correct tension on smog pump tensioner.

Hi, I cannot seem to dial in the correct tension for the smog/wp belt. It’s always either too tight or too loose and the belt will slightly slip at higher RPMs. All the pulleys are spinning perfectly fine, clean, and are aligned as far as I can tell, but I just can’t seen to get the noise to go...

Trying to find out what is wrong with my PS pump?

There is no ps fluid on the smog pump, it’s actually pretty clean. It’s leaks so slow that it doesn’t drip, it runs down the side of the ps pump and bracket and avoids the smog pump entirely. It’s not like I ever have puddles under the truck, the most I ever get is maybe literally two or three...

Trying to find out what is wrong with my PS pump?

Belt tension is fine to my knowledge, not too loose or too tight. I didn’t try it with no belts on it at all though (good idea!), but rather with only the water pump belt on it, and then then noise wasn’t there. And it only happens usually within ~5 minutes after startup, but not necessarily...

Trying to find out what is wrong with my PS pump?

Yeah but I dont think that is the source of the noise because when I replaced the belt for the PS,Alternator and Ck, I ran the engine for a few seconds just to find the noise, and the noise was gone without the PS pulley engaged. Then when I threw the other belt back on, the noise was back.(Also...

Trying to find out what is wrong with my PS pump?

My 87 FJ60 emits a load squealing sound at roughly 2000 rpms while parked (warming the engine up in the morning with choke), and occasionally on the road, but only if the clutch is engaged. If I give it a little more gas it usually suddenly gets louder, but then does not comeback at all usually...
