Free OEM front axles - cleaning out the garage...

I'll ship them to you if you want to pay the freight. No idea what it would cost, but it's a whole lot less than a new pair of axles. LMK

Free OEM front axles - cleaning out the garage...

I have a pair of OEM axles which need to be rebuilt. If anyone is looking for spare axles and is inclined to do the rebuild you can have 'em. They have been in boxes in my garage for several years. Pick up in tri-state NY area, or I can ship them if you want to pay for freight. LMK

    which odyssey battery for 1999

9+ years and 147k on the original Panasonic. It's time for a new battery, though. I'll probably check out the Diehard.

    The +'s and the -'s of a 2000 LC

Mine is an '01 and the incidence of failure seems to be higher than later years, though not as high as '00. Again, that's not to say that your tranny won't last 250k, but going into the purchase with eyes wide open would be wise.

    The +'s and the -'s of a 2000 LC

FWIW my tranny gave one potential clue, which seemed to be attributed to a low-idle condition, right before it blew up at 111k. I don't think there is any way to be sure, though Kipper suggests pulling the tranny pan to see what is on the magnets in the bottom. You can't tell by looking at the...

    The +'s and the -'s of a 2000 LC

One negative on the 2000s is that they do have some history of tranny failures. I don't know the percentage, but it's definitely higher than other years. The problem was solved some time later in 2001 (2002+ to be safe). My ('01) replacement tranny cost almost $4k from Toyota. That...

Best Aftermarket Exhaust for US-spec 100?

Well, at 130k my exhaust is starting to sound pretty ratty. I have long since hose clamped all the heat shields, but the muffler is finally succumbing to the ravages of Northeastern driving. On the plus side, I finally have a little of that v8 sound, but it's dirty - and getting worse. I...

    LC 2000 failed transmission

I wouldn't bother with VIN numbers. This problem affects '01s also, though perhaps fewer failures. If it's going to go, it's going to go. Mine failed with exactly the same symptoms as listed in post #1. However, the local dealer identified the problem in far fewer than 7 hours. I can't...

    Bilstein HD's

Get the Bilsteins! FWIW, I waited until my stock shocks were spent and then upgraded to Bilsteins. If I had understood how much they improve the handling of a 100 I would not have waited. That annoying body roll and front end squat in turns will disappear. It won't handle like a sports car...

    Front and Rear Rotors

Brake Upgrade I went with ART rotors based on some Mud recommendations. I have had the fronts & rears on, with new pads and SS brake lines, for about 6 months and I am very happy so far. My goal was better performance and longer life. The performance is better than stock. Only time will...

    transmission troubled 100 Series identification

On the flip side, there do seem to be more reports of tranny problems in the '00 and '01 model years, so if you can get your hands on a different year you may reduce that risk. My '01 has had an easy life and the torque converter self destructed and took the entire tranny with it at about 110k...

Where to get Bilsteins for a lifted 100?

BUMP Darren - Can these shocks be used on a stock height LC or with a lift lower than 2.5"? If so, what needs to be done/added to make that happen. Thanks!

Where to get Bilsteins for a lifted 100?

Thanks Spresso! For Bilsteins it sounds like I'm either looking at stock height with 5100 HDs or 2.5" with the Aussie shocks. I'm just trying to figure out if there is a shock that is suitable for both stock height and "mildly" lifted.
