    Suspension Question

Check the distance between the frame mounted bumpstops and the axle. It may be that the "normal" height needs to be adjusted up to keep the axle from bottoming out on larger bumps.

Intermittent Air Spring Failure to Inflate

That looks good! 4" seems like it should be enough.

    Swapping rear springs

I think the easiest way is to disconnect the bottom of the shock, put on spring compressors finger tight, the jack up the vehicle, put the frame on jackstands, let the axle back down and pull out the spring. Then you have to compress the new spring and put it back up. The new springs may need...

    Gx Mark Levinson upgrade

My understanding is you have to set the fader, volume (preset - still adjustable from new HU), and other audio settings from the factory HU before installing the aftermarket unit. Once the aftermarket unit is installed, you don't have access to the "audio" settings anymore. So the factory...

    Gx Mark Levinson upgrade

I have factory rear-seat entertainment and have heard this adapter won't work with the RSE. Otherwise I'd have bought it by now. I have factory bluetooth but it works very intermittently so I'm looking for an alternative.

Intermittent Air Spring Failure to Inflate

Looks good - I'm glad it turned out well! How much space is there between the frame-mounted bumpstop and the rear axle?

Ah - thx for the info on the sliders. Not quite convinced to do weld-on yet.

    Pelfreybilt GX470 Front Tube-Hybrid Bumper

Looks nice! Can't wait to see it on a truck. Is there a place to see pictures/prices of the sliders?

Intermittent Air Spring Failure to Inflate

That's great - love to see some photos if you get a chance. Also - I'd love a photo of the rear axle showing the spring, secondary isolator (if it has one) and the bumpstop - I'm trying to get an ideal of which spring configurations in the rear are giving the best ride with the least lift. Thanks!

My new to me 2005 gx470 Sport

Looks nice! How are you liking the SL3B-L Bluetooth kit? Does it handle the handsfree calling and audio streaming or just streaming? I have the factory bluetooth but it is sketchy and doesn't always work consistently. I'm looking for some other option for bluetooth that includes streaming.

Metal Tech rear suspension conversion problem.

Wow coops2k - that is really close. I'd be curious if you need the bumpstop spacer. If there is no contact of the tire when stuffed I'd be tempted to take out that spacer or reduce its height. Do you feel it bottoming out consistently?

Metal Tech rear suspension conversion problem.

Very interested in your experience. I think the FJC springs are just too soft/short for this application. I'm curious what the stock-height springs Metal Tech sells are for.

    Question about replacement dashboards

How about 55401-60900 or 55401-60904 followed by C0 C1 or E0 depending on the color. I think the 904 is for mark levinson and the other is for standard audio.

Intermittent Air Spring Failure to Inflate

It seems like a control issue - maybe a faulty connection or one of the sensors intermittently not communicating or sending false data. Definitely the worst kind of issue to troubleshoot in my opinion. If the airbags aren't leaking, the system is telling it to deflate.

Metal Tech rear suspension conversion problem.

I ordered Icon 2" springs from Metal Tech and some stock 4runner/FJ bumpstops (PN 48306-60180). The bumpstops for the coil-sprung 4runner/FJC are a couple inches shorter (see the second image in the first post). I will post back with an update when I get the springs replaced. I think the...

Metal Tech rear suspension conversion problem.

I agree with this - and this is my concern with the original design. It seems like the isolator can't do its job to add that progressive energy absorbtion if it is too high relative to the bump stop. From the original design of the 4runner it looks like it should contact about 2 to 3 inches...

Metal Tech rear suspension conversion problem.

I think both of those images are with the axle hanging free - I'll take some of mine with load on it when I get back home. I only have a couple of inches when weight is on the springs.

Intermittent Air Spring Failure to Inflate

What exactly are the symptoms - does it deflate? or stay at whatever level it is set and just won't inflate to a higher level?

Metal Tech rear suspension conversion problem.

Not yet - trying to get some perspective from others who've installed the kit before contacting MT.
