so, I had the same problem following a rebuild, and as embarrassing as it was, I had simply forgotten to plug the harness together just inside the firewall.... I spent a bunch of time tracing circuits and 30 minutes later I finally noticed I just never plugged the two halves together. Anyway...
I'm getting near the end of an engine rebuild, and since I only have to pass sniffer, I'm leaving out all the smog/emissions crud. here's my q's:
1) Can I yank the emissions computer, or do I need it for the vent (carbon can) to work right?
2) Should I keep it, do I need the carb temp sensor...
Well, I took my little girl swimming rather than heading to Sears. Anyway, I got home and tried out the center punch- would you believe it worked like a champ?!? I'm very greatful for the assistance. :bow:
At any rate, I'll probably grab that impact SD anyway- to get the new screws in...
Uraugh? Impact screwdriver? Sounds like a tool I ain't got!! I was thinking about using the center punch- the screws are already too buggered to re-use. If I can carry my a$$ out to sears, I'll check out the impact sd, though!

I'm trying to get the end plate (the plate behind the timing gears on a 2f) off my stinkin' block. I cannot seem to get the #$@#$@ flat head @#$@# screws out. I've gone through two screw drivers- twisted the blades right off! >:( If I put a wrench on the end, the @#$@# screwdriver just pops out...
Well, the glass is all intact, and there's very little if any rust on the outside. On the inside rear, there is some little rust, but the last I looked it can be sanded off and painted- it doesn't go through. The headliner is also intact, though it needs a cleaning. The front doors are in good...
