Will a split transfer case from an 82 HJ47 fit an earlier 4 speed gearbox?

The output shaft of the gearbox. He tells me he can just put the new transfer case on and it'll drive, but he's not sure for how long it will survive. Could be weeks or years. Reckons it should be fine once I get oil in there though. But while I've got this older box just sitting here, I thought...

Will a split transfer case from an 82 HJ47 fit an earlier 4 speed gearbox?

So they wont fit? I don't know what's on the output side of the gearboxs because the both have t-cases on the back. The split t-case has a 19 spline and the one piece one has a 10 spline. So the gearboxs are different then?

Will a split transfer case from an 82 HJ47 fit an earlier 4 speed gearbox?

I've taken my HJ47 to the mechanic because the transfer case is rooted. I supplied a good condition split transfer case. Question about 1971 fj40 steering wheel

Thanks mate, that's all the information I needed. I'll just have to see if she fits and if not, later down the track I'll get the suitable wheel. I don't mind the newer wheels, although I prefer the older ones, anything is better than the wheel that's on there at the moment. I'm not sure what...

I have a 1971 fj40 soft top, had it for only a few months now. I want to I put an original steering wheel on it. The person before me has put a sports steering wheel on which looks absolutely ridiculous. I have the wheel. (Not mine, just showing you which wheel I have.) But my FJ has the...
