I'm in the middle of a light restoration of my FZJ80 and I'd like to keep everything as close to factory as possible. Many of the bolts underneath have been removed, wire wheeled and will soon be yellow zinc plated.
My question is, which bolts were painted black from the factory?
I've looked...
If we look past the OP's intentions, this has the possibility of being an interesting thread, if only to help us all justify the cost of certain upgrades we'd like to dabble in.
Factory locked trucks obviously command a premium. Would adding F&R Harrop lockers to an unlocked truck increase its...
That looks great, I'm digging the black valve cover.
How'd you go about cleaning and brightening all of the cast aluminum bits, such as the intake plenum and coolant pipes?
Would you mind sharing the inside diameter of both sides of the second cat? Also, on the end where the flange is perpendicular to the cat, is the pipe recessed at all inside of the flange, and if so how much?
I recently received the Magnaflow 23622 cat (non-CARB), and each side's ID is 2 3/8"...
I just used 3 or 4 spray cans on the undercarriage this afternoon. The product went on with no drama (temps in the mid 50s) and the smell was far less noticable than Fluid Film, as advertised.
For those of you using the cans, I recommend using the red tube attachment at all times. The spray...
The past couple days I've noticed when opening the tailgate there's a 5 second beep coming from the dash that I've never heard before. It sounds like the same beep that's made when leaving your keys in the ignition while opening the door and the like. There are no current issues with the central...

The whole assembly is likely #15 in your diagram above, part no. 69850-60010.
How did you guys deal with the adhesive residue after removing the factory insulation from the roof? Were you able to remove it all or did you simply install the dynamat over it?
It's quite a coincidence that you posted this, as a couple weeks ago I heard the exact same thing while stuck in traffic at the end of a 3 hour drive on a hot day. The truck remained running with the AC on for the 10 minutes or so it occurred. I haven't heard it since.
At the time the sound was...
Thanks, they're 285/75 R16 K02s.
It's hard to say as I replaced my tires at the same time with E rated K02s which are likely stiffer than my old set. My best guess is that these are similar to stock in that regard.
Tools- I have the axles out currently and plan on leaving the inner seal off to let the gear oil flow as suggested. While I have everything apart, would you recommend I swap the large seal that goes in the hub with a new one or are these pretty stout?
If I do replace that seal, should any...
