92 3FE, engine starts up and runs smooth. As it warms up it develops a white smoke from what seems the side of the valve cover. Can't tell exactly. Is there something else under the intake that can cause the same type of smoke?
After shutting it off it is difficult or won't restart. Let it...
Driving the truck up the highway and started to smell burning rubber. Pulled off highway, no broken belts no leak. I think engine has major issue. Oil is fine and no leaks. Any way a seized AC compressor stall the engine? When I hit the starter it seems everything is slowly turning.
I assume...
Been struggling with my brakes for a while. Replaced rotors with larger 97's, new calipers, and series 100 pads. Still getting pulling to one side or the other when braking. Plus when I get on them hard the front left locks up.
I assume the lspv might be the cause of the lock up but not the...
On my 92 I discovered an annoying rattle / squeak at the fuel tank. seems to be the front edge of the skid plate but there's no play at the actual straps. Are there bushings / pads between the plate and the tank that wear out or ones above the tank? I rather not have to mess with rusted 20 year...
Really, 10 hours of labor for replacing the side push rod cover on a 3-fe!?! I tried not to laugh too hard, dealer also wanted $450 to change the oil pan gasket. Now I know why I get greasy on weekends.
Crap. I did my birfield service and at the same time upgraded to 93+ rotors and calipers plus 100 series pads. I got everything back together and it was looking great. However I cant get the rotor to sit far enough back to be able to get the c-clip on the ends of the axles. Both sides are about...
Been a long weekend finishing up some work and Im having a brain fart ....what direction does the hub seal get installed into the rotor? Smooth side out? searched FAQ's and couldnt find it.
So I pulled the axle to do birfield service first time for me personally on this truck and found this...wtf!?! There doesn't seem to be anything loose in the housing that would of caused this so am I looking at a PO that went to town in it with a hammer? The outer surface and knuckle both seem...
Getting ready to do my axle rebuild and had a question regarding bearing races. Will I will be able to "brass bar" them out? Should I get a press kit from Northern Tools or someplace like that?
So gathered all my stuff for a knuckle rebuild this weekend and forgot a little piece of the puzzle....the 54mm socket. Would anyone in the Plano area have one I can borrow for the weekend? I can't find one (or a 2 1/8") anywhere around.
Thanks!
Need some specific advice and I'm having a hard time narrowing down the 10,000 "which shock" responses. I currently have a 2" standard load OME set up with N70 / N71 shocks. Since moving to Dallas 2 years ago I've noticed that I'm starting to feel the crappy concrete roads a lot more. I'm...
Maybe its the fact that it's 108 but I'm chasing my tail with the vac lines around the distributor. :bang: Can someone with a 3FE take a couple of pix around that area so I can verify I followed the diagram correctly (yea I should of took some before I started) Here's what I need:
Correct...

Just moved to DFW and my truck's brake booster went while at Love field. Not crazy about driving it all the way up to Plano without power brakes or really brakes all together. Is there anyone in town that does good work for a resonable price? Or is there any place you can rent out to wrench on a...
Pedal became hard for first 1/4 then was fine for rest of braking. After a few times the pedal became much tougher to push all the way through and stopping became difficult. Truck difficult to keep stopped even at idle. Of course this all happened at the airport...never in the driveway!
Howdy from Tejas...
Watching Speed / Dangerous Drives and am missing AZ and the LC...Closest thing I've gotten to off road is the rental car on the sand in Corpus Christi. Hey! Mr. Brady just slid off the trail...winch lesson time. :flipoff2:
Had a great time yesterday, but more importantly I wanted to take this chance to say THANKS for helping out the fool without a right size spare! A special thanks to Puulboy for the use of his spare, it was a bit tough trying to get up the hills with that BFG back there but we managed :flipoff2...
Went wheeling the other day and the truck (3fe) stalled 3x when in a steep nose down situation. The first 2x it started back up, but the 3rd took a few seconds. When it stalled it just cut out, no sputter, no noise. The 2 theories on the trail were a bad fuel pick up / screen or a bad electrical...
