I'd like to get rid of the leaf springs altogether. Ever since I drove two nearly identical rental cargo trucks, one with air rear suspension, and one with leaf springs, I can't be satified with leaf springs anymore. The difference was night and day. The leaf spring truck beat up the...
I'd like to do the same, but don't know how the axle is going to be held in place laterally, unless a custom suspension trailing arm is made (similar to what the Adventure Trailers owner used), or the leaf springs remain. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

BOOORRRING! All the car companies seem to go through this phase, and all end up going back building niche vehicles, because everyone loses interest in their products without them. The auto companies need the publicity and showroom traffic building of niche vehicles, and they couldn't buy...
The body doesn't act as the antenna in the CB case either. The body is grounded to the radio, and acts as an antenna ground plane for a tuned vertical antenna. The body of the car doesn't actually radiate, but it does influence how the antenna radiates.

What's the problem with AWD? I've never had any problems with mine, and it's good for snow covered roads and other slippery conditions when full lockup would be hard on the drivetrain. I rmember all the AT guys were complaining when the FJ came out that it didn't have AWD.

Assuming you are talking about a Wrangler, I believe they are only rated at 1500 pounds towing. BTW, the new Corvette actually does have muffler bearings.

The bottom line is the aerodynamics of the vehicle are ruined with all this add-on equipment and the lift kit. Air can't get around the front easily with the brush guard. Air can't flow over the roof without encounting the rack and lights sticking up. Air can't pass easily underneath, because...
Really? I prefer the manual for wheeling. I enjoy chugging over rocks in low range, and first gear, vs. lurching over them with a wind-up torque converter in the drivetrain. I love the direct connection you get with the manual. I guess to each his own.

Are you talking about the floorpan stamping plant, or the vehicle assembly line for the FJ?
If they don't share the same assembly line, it could end up being too costly to keep the line running for a slow selling model. Right now sales are about 1/4 what they were a their peak according to...
Aren't you a two car family? Get her what she wants, and you get what you want, and everybody's happy. Best to keep the marriage intact, and healthy.
Just my $.02

I would not use undercoating, or any other thick coating on the axle, transfer case, or engine. Those thick coatings act as a thermal barrier, and you could potentially overheat those components under high load in hot climates, particularly when trailer towing and/or long grades.

An exhaust system isn't going to do much of anything, nor is an intake system. A good set of headers probably would help a little. If you really want to do something that would you feel a difference, take the heads off and have them ported. Then port match the intake manifold, and headers...
I think the number of people who wanted a manual transmission in their FJ Cruiser caught Toyota by surprise, and they have had to try to up the production levels. When I went to the local dealer, they hardly had any FJ's in stock, let alone with a manual. I told them I wasn't interested in a...
