My rig is ready for some love. Who, within a 500 mile radius, should I have touch her?

Used to do all my own work to the fzj80. Now, I need someone I can trust, to work on her for me. Who would you recommend, within a 500 mile radius of Hailey, Idaho? I need engine work...head gasket, oil leaks...timing cover, upper pan arch seal, steering pump...looks like a rebuild. Does anyone...

New and seeking advice LF:80 vs 100 input experienced Owners

Son drives a 100 in O.C. Good rig for that location. Doesn't sound like you need a hardcore wheeler, because of the wrenching involved. Go with the 100.

A question for Colorado drivers (or anyone else who deals with steep grades)

There's just not enough air up there without boost...then add a full load...:meh:

Don't ignore a dry spindle bushing!

Have you checked your calipers? The high pitched grinding could be the metal wear fingers on the brake pads? Sometimes, heat glaze, or other pad condition problems can cause it.

Shot Brake Cleaner Spray Can Straw in my Diff, Will it cause issues?

Worry not. The plastic used for those straws is similar to the thickness gauge plastic material used to mic the backlash setting for diff setup anyway. Perfect for squishing between gear teeth.

how many miles do you have on your 80

    188K on a 3 locked 1995. I'll go to 300K and beyond. LOF @ 5K miles.

ARB bumper lights. Post your pictures

I've had these "Ingress Protection Factor" IPF 968's since '06. They're about the same as the rectangular 868's. Hybrid reflector is a good theory, but they don't throw any farther than my HIR bulb high beams. I've tested them during a completely dark sky night. Just a little wider coverage up...

Snow chains, straps for an 80?

the guys down at Les Schwab will pretty much tell you that...it's about the sticky soft compound of the snow tires. But most of the snow tires around here are studded, and so, legally must be removed by April 15 anyway. Temps around here are in the 50's then so, it works out.:meh:

What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

That area drains a huge watershed. It happened in 1981 as well. I lived near there for 28 yrs.

    Tighter turning 80 series???

AFAIK, the 80 has the tightest turning radius of any solid front axle, full time 4x4, with this length wheelbase.

Snow chains, straps for an 80?

Sipes !! I've lived (and driven) in the Mts. of Idaho for 27 years, and have always run A/T's with siping. Chains and cables are too slow, (I have cables for the 80, and chains for the plow truck) and sipes allow me to do winter road trips without the noise of studs. Sipes help the tire run...

80 or 100 for highway purposes

My son has had a 100 series for over 10 years, and lives in OC (all pavement). I've driven it, and don't find it significantly better than my 80, except in acceleration. I have driven many 600 mile, one day trips to SLC (80 mph all day) and my wife and I often remark how great a road trip rig...

    Update on my Thanksgiving adventure

80's don't seem to like cogged belts. IMHO, always run OEM belts on them. They're sold in matched pairs to exact tolerances.
