Hi there,
My 1994 80 is for sale. It is bone stock and everything works. All options except front and rear lockers.
The LC has been to several local trails and performed seamlessly. It was trailing all of Big Bear Lake along...
Well, to begin the story let me briefly tell you the status of the LC. I bought this beautiful unlocked 94 with 180k on the clock, as it came with a healthy stack of service records and being a one owner soccer mom's wagon I made the deal regardless of lockers.
After reading an extensive...
At first I felt the same. It's bulky and looks too much like an armored truck.
But, after seeing and actually carrying the bumper it's not heavy at all. They claim it's less than 100 lbs. It's completely aluminum.
What about sliders?
Thanks for the input!
It looks to be a thin viscousity oil. I've read alot of post with oil leaking under the trunion bolts. It would help to know what kind of oil and grease did you used during the service.
birf,
trunion bearings,
wheel bearings,
diff.
I will definitely keep loggin on MUD and keep all these great info and connections.
The 70 largo is a beast and really my first pick. Do you know if it comes with diff locks? I saw a German version with factory diffs, diesel, and snorkel. I wish I can have one of those.
That Nissan was added...
70 series are awesome
Good thing no kids. Although at times I need to hull around some suits and ties. So the interior can't be shaby. I really like having a diesel, not that gas is at all expensive... It's about half of what we pay here in the states.
Just want to get some opinions on your choice of vehicle in S. America, mainly Quito, EC.
I'm getting relocated in Quito and want to get something we don't have in the US, especially CA.
My pick now is Land Rover 110 TD5 or of course the lovely LC.
Chime in with your thoughts!
Bri.
Bookilla,
This looks like a clean rig. Most of the time when a person use the rig for what it's built for keeps it in better shape than a soccer mom's rig. (mechanically speaking)
Ask for records and as much information about its life and time spent in specific areas and usage.
Good luck...
Maybe birfs?
Hey,
Come to think of it, does the the flat mark on the birfield joints play in part of balance? If let say the PO worked on birfs and reinstalled the shaft back into axle overlooking the flat spots. Will this cause an off-balance issue?
Just a thought
Bri
Well, from my studies in this forum... the vacuum can suck in moly pass the seals. Another reason could be over-packing the hubs. However I used only 2 tubes for side, which is I think minimal.
Hayes,
Thanks! After about 300miles, there is a definite leak. Diff oil is moly soup, but knuckles are looking normal with only a thin coat of moly grease on spheres.
I'm going to drain and fill for a week or so and monitor the birfs' grease condition.
I hope this is only a bad breather valve...
