Hi guys,
I've decided to replace my valve cover gasket / plug seals and clean the throttle body while I'm there. Now that I have all the necessary bits off, cleaned, and safely laid on the garage floor, few questions though:
1. The distributor gear and its surrounds look very brownish...
Hi all,
My starter started clicking in the morning and got progressively worse in the last few weeks. With 112K miles on the truck and original starter, I figured my contacts & plunger are done, especially after reading Alvaro's thread.
When I removed the contacts, there was not an...
Hi all,
After approximately 112K of trouble-free miles, the truck finally hesitated to start this morning (clicked on the first try, barely cranked on the second, but got it running on the third try) - so I guess it's time to get some work done along with the 120K tasks:
. Replace starter...

Hi guys,
I'll loan a ODBII code reader soon to read the fault code...Meanwhile, here're what I have done to the truck in the last few days - dont know if it's a coincidence or not:

Hi guys,
This is for those that wish to have blinking side markers, without drilling big holes on the light housings, and at a minimal cost (less than a buck).
Credit: Thanks to Daniel Stern for this cool idea. I have this project pondering in my head for years but haven't felt the need to...
Ideas needed: Most economical way to fill IN a swimming pool?
Hello all,
I have a small pool (about 30,000 - 40,000 gallons) that takes up all my precious space in the back yard. Since it does not get much use, I'm thinking of filling it up (with sand, then soil...) and cover it with grass...
The vehicle: 1997 Lexus LX450
Production date: Dec. - 1997 (ported to the US on Jan. 1998)
Mileage: just rolled over 88,888 miles yesterday!
I bought mine under CPO program in May, 2001. The truck had approximately 35Kmiles on it. Since then, it's been serving mainly as a family van on...
Well, finally felt comfortable wrenching again (dislocated my right shoulder snowboarding last month), so decided it's time to change out the OME poly-urethane shock bushings with OEM ones (thanks for the new ones, Beowulf!!!)
Front driver's one was a piece of cake, so I proceeded to the...
Thought I would share with others...
Approximately a year ago I replaced all my wiper's inserts with OEM ones. Upon dis-assembling the inserts, I noticed the locking end of the inserts (larger ribbed end) is mounted on the bottom of the wiper arm; so I put the new replacements in the same...
Hi all,
Just got this fog light switch from a JDM MR2... Could any take a guess as what the upper switch position does (note Japanese writings)? What about wiring scheme?
As you could see, the switch has 4 wires: Red (switched power), Yellow (constant power from battery), Green/Yellow...
Hi all,
Approximately 2 & 1/2 years ago my truck would randomly unlock (front dome light flashed, door opened indicator light in the dash glowed) WHEN making a hard left. Brought the truck in under CPO program, the dealer replaced the right front door lock actuator (and noted 'due to...
Flushed my PS yesterday with Valvolin SyncPower PS fluid. The old fluid had honey color when checked so I always assumed that they relatively OK, NOT! The old fluid came out looks like root beer comparing to almost clear color of the new fluid - attached a pix for reference
Frank.
Could anybody (and Dan) please advise if the following PNs are correct for the stock shocks:
Front: 48511-60480 GJ1
Rear: 48531-60480 GI3
Thanks in advance!
Frank.
Hello all,
Has anyone tried to tap into this module for a small draw ? I'd like to get some power for an e-compass; ignition switched is preferred over constant powered.
Any tips are greatly appreciated!
Frank.
