    Builds The Escape Wagon Restoration

Got rid of a tick in my engine. Replaced the push rods and readjusted valves. One rod may have had a small bend but it could’ve just been a valve out of adjustment. Happened to have a full set of brand new OEM rods in my parts room.

1988 Toyota Landcruiser trouble with ignition switch.

Hope this helps. Did mine some years back. Does it slip in if you depress this button?

Has anyone experienced a tick being caused by worn/bent pushrod?

Adding a beauty shot,. Also, if your ever pull your valve rocker assembly, use the larger bolt at #2 cylinder to align the shaft oil passage otherwise it wont seat properly…..you will realize if it isn’t aligned if it won’t seat but it took be a bit to realize why it was stuck and not dropping down

Has anyone experienced a tick being caused by worn/bent pushrod?

Ok - the tick is gone. pulled the valve rocker assembly and pulled/replaced the push rods. One “might” have had a slight wobble or I was looking for bending wobble and saw it. I also tries something I had previously not done…..cold adjusted the valves(0.010/0.016). Took all the time I...

Has anyone experienced a tick being caused by worn/bent pushrod?

That’s my plan and thanks for the response Have new rods (and lifters) in my basement stock. I will try valves one more time as well. May take me a few weeks to find the time but if/when I find the culprit I’ll post it here.

Has anyone experienced a tick being caused by worn/bent pushrod?

Thanks I’ll check the lifters as well. Not exactly excited to take the pushrod inspection panel off again (did that to replace the gasket some time back) and remember what an absolute pain in the butt that was.

Has anyone experienced a tick being caused by worn/bent pushrod?

I have a tick. It’s been there since I got the rig some years ago. While I’ll freely admit I’m slightly OCD and the rig is running fine…..I’m working my butt off to make this a forever car I’ll drive in retirement. I’m also aware of several potential culprits like exhaust leaks, valve...

OK - One more problem behind me. The rig starting having issues where it would crank but not start. I've already been though all of the sensors in the water jacket, MAF , had a new fuel pump put in etc. etc. etc. Took it to a buddy that is a master diagnostic Lexus technician. It took him a...

    New Member - Just Getting Started w/ '88 FJ62

You’ll love the 62 and other are correct on it not being “speeding ticket prone”. The brakes are good on these rigs IF set up properly. Certainly bleed, pads etc. Since it was never lifted you probably don’t have to adjust the load sensing proportional valve which controls front/rear...

A440F - Any expert advice appreciated

If memory serves me correctly it was still available from Toyota. There are two cables, both labled throttle. The one that goes from the throttle body to the gas pedal is no longer available the the throttle kick down was. If that isn‘t still the case a few vendors offer them(cruiser corps...

    Hard start

Many if not most 62 owners have experienced this. The posts above are correct in that the gas pedal won’t do anything on an EFI motor. Do the two easy/most common things first…..clean your cold start injector. Very easy to do and multiple threads on this. Check your valve clearance (Your...

FJ62 Neutral safety switch post H55 swap question

Considered that but chose a cheap and cheerful semi-kill switch option running to an OEM switch in the cab. Plus…..I never thought about allowing my wife to drive the rig 😀.

FJ62 Neutral safety switch post H55 swap question

Hello Matt! I guess mine wouldn’t be considered a true kill switch, more of a NSS disconnect switch. When I did the H55 swap, I followed what others have done by simply connecting the positive/negative wires off the neutral safety switch for the A440F. That way it assumed it was park or...

FJ62 Neutral safety switch post H55 swap question

My 62 has been converted to H55. I previously had a kill switch installed using the NSS which I disconnected while chasing down some other gremlins. now that the gremlins are gone I wanted to hook up the kill switch again. My specific question is (and those that follow my build thread know that...

Now that the rig is running great I’m knocking out a few remaining items. Passenger window is slow and the power door locks sometimes (40% of the time) don’t unlock on the passenger front and rear. Removed and disassembled the driver door window/lock switch assembly and cleaned contacts (Photo...
