NTK is OEM for the 94 and olders, Denso for 95+
Either are reasonably priced. I've learned that cheap parts especially ones that see harsh environments like and O2 sensor are best purchased once.

Its my understanding that both sensors are identical only different in wire lengths. Is your wiring good? Can you verify voltage patterns at the Diagnostic port? Clean connections?

Yes to both. I re-spliced the harness with waterproof connectors, resealed it up and the code is cleared.
I'm pretty sure the shielding is just a ground, it metered out to battery negative at 0.3 Ohms.
I bought 2 of the 24044 ones off rockauto for a good price to try and solve a Code 28. Unfortunately I still have a code 28... I metered out both sensors with my Fluke 87V and they didnt pass the 5.0-6.5 Ohm test at 4.8 and 4.9 Ohms. So those are getting sent back, one is getting replaced...
