Timing Cover Gasket pushing out, help please.

Thanks, Matt, for the detailed breakdown! You nailed it; it's out of a 78 model year. I did not pull the plate behind the timing cover. I pulled the engine and transmission out of my rig because it was leaking from so many places and had a mud/oil frosting over the bottom of everything. It took...

Timing Cover Gasket pushing out, help please.

Hi All, I recognize there are many threads about this, but none that I've found seem to answer enough. I'm in the process of putting my motor back together, and when torquing the timing cover to what the service manual calls out, it pushed the gasket out. As other threads have suggested, I...

Finding TDC without a Flywheel or Distributor

Thanks all for the advice! Which position do I want it in for installing the distributor and eventually starting the motor up?

Finding TDC without a Flywheel or Distributor

Likely, I understand 4-cycle = suck (intake) squeeze (compression) bang (ignition) blow (exhaust). But am having some hardship understanding what is open/closed at different points in the rotation. My intention is to get them close and then readjust when warm.

Finding TDC without a Flywheel or Distributor

Lifters, pushrods, and valves are all in. Up is open, right and down (or flush) is closed.

Finding TDC without a Flywheel or Distributor

Hi all. Im putting my motor back together and am at Fig 3-56/57 in the Service manual at the part where it asks you to adjust the valve clearance. It says to set No. 1 cylinder to TDC/Compression. Since I don't have the flywheel on and I haven't installed the distributor yet, I'm unsure about...

    2F Engine Rotation

Im in the middle of doing this, and at the same point @Kuda picture is in post 3. Like in that picture, my cam/crank marks are lined up and also like in that photo, rockers 7 and 9 have their springs compressed. How do you adjust those? The book says Cylinder #1 should be at TDC/compression...

Putting my Motor Back together, preferred Order of Operations

Hi All, I'm finally at the point of putting my motor (1978 2F) back together after having cleaned everything from years of oil/mud that frosted everything like a cake nobody wanted. It's all repainted and ready to go back together. I have it on a stand and spun it 180 degrees. I put the oil...

    Powder Coating Colors

@Vae Victus Looks nice to me, is it too shiny or does it sorta match the glaze on seat brackets? Does the color seem to match well, glossyness aside? What sorta setup are you using, looks like you may be at home doing this?
