I hope everyone is having a nice Labor Day weekend! Just wanted to update - I got my Land Cruiser back about a week ago. Runs great. The extended warranty covered a little more than half of the expense. They would only (seemingly reluctantly) cover the minimum repair (one head gasket, no...
The Toyota dealership is recommending both heads be sent to the machine shop, and head gaskets replaced. The shop foreman confirmed this is his recommendation. I'm still waiting to learn what the extended warranty company is going to cover, but the engine will be repaired correctly regardless...
I spoke with the warranty company adjuster today. They are sending an inspector out to confirm the dealer's diagnosis. I am attaching an image from the borescope here:
bloc,
No, I do not check fluid levels often on my Cruiser. I've mostly been relying on the "inspections" performed at the dealer when the vehicle is serviced, and I occasionally check myself - like before a road-trip, or when I am cleaning or working on the cruiser, or adding wiper fluid. The...
Sandroad,
Agreed. I'm trying not point fingers, but the timing is incredible. But what could possibly happen (go wrong) during a routine oil change that would lead to a blown head gasket and/or liquid in the cylinder a few days later?
jeep2cruiser,
Just finished reading your thread, thanks for sharing. Glad to hear you got your ride back on the road.
I have driven about 55k miles on my cruiser since I bought it, and it has worked flawlessly - no issues. I did get new spark plugs installed at the dealership just a couple...

I have fox 2.5 dsc and 2720 rear springs. Pretty much perfect out of the box. Feels great on the road at any speed, and very impressive at high speeds off road. I've adjusted up and down but went back to the stock settings. No complaints.
Sorry for not following up sooner guys. I made an extension by splicing 20 feet of wire from home dpo into an arb cable. Worked perfect in the bear box.
