Hello All,
Does anyone know of a source that lists all the bolt sizes for common areas of the vehicle? For example: Rear Door hinges, Front Door hinges, Hood hinges and so forth.
Rather then replace 1 missing rear door hinge bolt I figured I might as well replace all the screws at the same...
Greetings all. Well I officially have my 1976 (Dec 75) "Short Bus" alive an running. Now the fun part of fixing everything from it sitting in a barn for past 3-5 years.
Anyways the previous owner broke the drivers side rear jumpseat bottom and constructed some makeshift seat from wood and...
Hello everyone. I need some guidance or direction. I have an all original (minus Smog) 76 (Dec 75) that I bought back in May. It had been sitting in a barn for about 4-5 years.
Ive replaced all the fuel lines, fuel filter, carb and gas tank due to some exterior pitting on the tank.

How well does the electrolysis work on an object with paint as well as rust? Never done it and might give it a shot.
Also has anyone power coated on top of the left over galvanized metal? I've been reading up on powder coating and a lot say to still media blast anything galvanized. Any experience?
To neutralize the acid for sure..... do a quick soak in a solution of baking soda and water. Since I am going to sand blast following the acid soak I just do a hot water rinse. But if your gonna paint I would do the baking soda solution.
So I have a factory style carb and I will rebuild the one I am removing. I realize I need the spacer. What I'm asking is do I need the rest of the plate that is attached to the spacer?
In this picture the riser that I drew a yellow line around has either been cut or separated from the rest of...
Hello all,
I was putting on a new non smog carb on my 76 and noticed that the "Carb Insulator Plate Spacer" was either cracked or had been cut by the previous owner to separate it from the carb riser block. Yet it was still bolted in.
Now my question is do I need it? I've seen quite a few...
Greetings,
I am new here and been cleaning up some seat hardware, a gas tank and other items from an FJ40 that has been sitting for some years. Not sure if something like this has been shared before but I figured I'd share an old Gunsmithing trick. The simplest way to remove rust and bluing on...
Did you split them up for sale? Depending on price I might be interested in the one without the fold down bracket.
My Drivers side fold down seat bottom is missing in my Dec 75.
Curious question from a new FJ owner. Why does one seat have a drop down grey bar and the other doesn't?
My Dec 75 FJ rear passenger fold down seat is all original and doesn't have that bar. My Driver side rear fold down seat is half original, the bottom must have broke at one time and the...
Hello Everyone,
I just bought an Dec 75 FJ40 a couple weeks ago that is all original and has been sitting for about 5 years
I'm trying to go with as many original parts as possible. Therefore I am in need of 2 (1 seat) headrest guides and bezels for an late-75/early-76 FJ40. 4 would be great...
