Converting air conditioner from R12 to R134a?

OP here... My mechanic just finished upgrading my A/C system to R134A. Changed oil in the compressor, new fittings, R134a and checked everything out. Cost was $243.43. Stupid time of year to worry about the A/C even here in Arizona!

Newbie -- What do you think of this one?

Does look like a nice truck. I do see the rust bubbles around the rear reflectors. If it's there you can almost guarantee there is more waiting to appear. You will never win that battle. Nice to see OEM mats but don't like the undercoating in the back. Suspect the same under the front mat. Nice...

Thanks for the information guys. Didn't do the correct search. I'll convert to R134a and buy a bunch of extra cans and put them on the shelf.

Converting air conditioner from R12 to R134a?

When we bought Ms. Scarlet in 2017 the Clardy air installed in 1983 was dead. Replaced the compressor with a York and replaced the dryer. Everything else was good to go. Spent the extra money to stay with R12 for better cooling on the advise of the mechanic. Everything has been good until this...

    Windshield washer locations?

Sounds about right to me. Our '78 bought new had the washer on the hood.

    Windshield washer locations?

The only body panel that has been replaced on our1982 is the hood. The original owner told me he replaced the hood when it was repainted in 1997. The replacement has the washer in the center of the hood and Ms. Scarlet has the working factory washer located above the windshield. So, the...

    A common affair

Read the whole post. Great story and good story telling. I'm hooked. Can't wait to see the finished Cruzzer! But at 74 years old don't make me wait too long.

    Weber Carb HELP

Got to agree. Anything that has to do with English carbs is not worth dealing with. Been there done that with a couple English cars.

What have you found in the cruiser from a PO

As we all know the FJ40 glove box is a cavernous thing. As a retired museum director and historian I was in hog heaven. I felt like I was on an archaeology dig. I found a 1982 owner manual. I found a receipt from the first owner dated 8-20-1997 for new tires at 88,043 miles. The name on the...

Look what I found in Lake City, Colorado!

I was waiting for someone to catch that. Give the man a cigar!

Look what I found in Lake City, Colorado!

I don't want to wear out my welcome since it is on private property. Besides most of the interior was covered by new parts.

Look what I found in Lake City, Colorado!

I had to get the oil changed in our Jeep while on vacation in Lake City and look what I found parked at the local garage. I did a walk around and quickly noticed that I was looking at the original paint. I could see the factory spot weld dimples in all the right places. The wheels even still had...

    Indonesian 40s

Nice truck you have there! I did some poking around and found this Indonesian FJ40 from awhile back. It looks like a really nice job. BORDER REIVERS

    Indonesian 40s

Post some pics of your restoration. I would guess that Indonesian imports are probably comparable to the South American imports we see. Lots of lipstick and mismatched parts from various years. You've got me interested. Before I go off on a wild goose chase on the internet, would you please post...

    Builds Rescuing a Basket Case '72 FJ40

You obviously have more skills than the average person to tackle this "resurrection". Might take a couple thousand years for me and subsequent generations. Good luck and hope to watch the progress, but please hurry up. I'm 73 and don't have that much time! By the way, I couldn't help but notice...
