For Sale 80 series Altimeter and subtank

It’s complicated to install, I went down that rabbit hole a while ago. First you have to swap out the sunvisors(US FZJ80’s are too long to use with this). Then you have to track down several electronic doodads not included with this sale for the altimeter to work. Then you have to wire...

Wanted  Wanted: OEM 80 Series tail light guards.

I used to see these all the time back when 80’s were new, haven’t been able to track down a set. If you have a pair in good shape, hit me up!

    Sunroof Plastic Trim

I have a sheet of black felt w/ adhesive on the back, and I cut out a few 1/4” squares and wedged them in the middle of the sunroof trim and the glass, fixed my rattles.

1996 80 Kill Switch Question - How do I wire this baby up?

And I ended up taking everyone’s advice and went the relay route, this is how I ended up wiring the relay(the antenna motor was my tester)

1996 80 Kill Switch Question - How do I wire this baby up?

I don’t do a ton of electrical work, but just added one of these to my amazon cart, looks handy, appreciate the suggestion!

1996 80 Kill Switch Question - How do I wire this baby up?

Found what I was looking for after tracing the wires from the ignition...the cutoff relay from the factory alarm! Or whatever it is, anyhow it was hidden in plain sight. So I took apart the connector to test my switch madness(gently pry the yellow plug out of the back w/ a pocket screwdriver...

1996 80 Kill Switch Question - How do I wire this baby up?

Had a few minutes to take things apart and snap a few pics of the black/white wire described above in the steering column. Curious why it’s a larger gauge on the firewall facing side of the connector/smaller on steering wheel facing side?

1996 80 Kill Switch Question - How do I wire this baby up?

You rock, that's spot on to what I was hoping someone would post! I was originally looking for that black/white wire in the kick panel, on the factory alarm there's supposed to be a connector right there, but I couldn't find it on mine. I wanted to unplug that connector and play around with a...

1996 80 Kill Switch Question - How do I wire this baby up?

Appreciate the input, hate to report I haven't done a damn thing yet, life. Should have some free time this weekend, think I'm going to do the fuel pump cutoff route on my 93, it's parked on the street and needs a quicker solution. Need to delve into my original idea for my 96 further, will...

List of all instrument cluster, Heater Control and Dashboard OEM Bulb list. LC 1994

It was a while ago, think I used the 168 Phillips brand diffused LED’s from the auto part store for the gauge backlighting, and Amazon T4’s neo wedge white LED’s for the overdrive light. I’d suggest trying superbrightled.com from what I’ve gathered on this forum, my amazon T4’s were a pain to...

List of all instrument cluster, Heater Control and Dashboard OEM Bulb list. LC 1994

If you want a great mod, swap out the instrument cluster lights(should be 4 bulbs) to white diffused LED bulbs, it'll give you the later model Lexus instrument cluster look. The Phillips bulbs are pricey, but they have that little diffused cover on them and they're not overly bright. I also...

1996 80 Kill Switch Question - How do I wire this baby up?

Hmm, little more complicated than I was thinking, but I saw the starter relay mentioned elsewhere too, this project is similar to installing a push button start from what I've gathered. And thank you for the link, I have the FSM and it has wiring diagrams, I'm just not (yet)competent in making...

1996 80 Kill Switch Question - How do I wire this baby up?

Appreciate it! Nemoblackdog mentioned I’m looking in the wrong bundle of wires too, a few of the other kill switch threads I read had accessed the kick panel wires. Starter relay wire, think I can track that down, thanks again!

1996 80 Kill Switch Question - How do I wire this baby up?

A kill switch isn’t that weird. Sorry to rub you the wrong way man, this is a place to ask questions about 80’s, and I’m asking a question that somebody on here has likely already done to their rig, just fishing for that offshoot chance someone someone can save me hours of reading through the...

1996 80 Kill Switch Question - How do I wire this baby up?

I’m pretty deadset in my idea, more so because it’s always disabled and I don’t have to remember to do it when I lock it up. And damnit, I just put the panels back together under the steering column, I thought all those ignition wires routed back to the kick panel?

1996 80 Kill Switch Question - How do I wire this baby up?

I decided not to go that route, that would be a toggle or on/off switch, I’m looking to hold a window type switch down in order for it to crank/start.

1996 80 Kill Switch Question - How do I wire this baby up?

Howdy, I’m trying to wire up a kill switch, and wiring’s not my forte. I’ve searched the threads and haven’t found a good picture of what I’m after. I have a window switch that I want to hold down for my 80 to start(not the 80’s window switch, a junkyard one I picked up). So, if you’re not...

What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend?

Birfday! The green 80’s inner axle seals were leaking, the joys of working on a rust free truck, never have I had one come apart and go back together so easily. The last one I did was on my red 62, that fought me every step of the way.

Who are we ordering OEM parts from these days?

McGeorge has the best prices and a decent webpage, but they are not Land Cruiser experts. I’ve had the best luck wheeling and dealing with my local Toyota dealers, I’m now near wholesale pricing with the one close to my house.
