Well… it’s hard to believe it was that simple! I went out to check my connections again and noticed my ground wire to the battery was loose. It was covered by slime heat shrink before so I didn’t notice. Probably my problem all along. Thank you!
My son’s 1996 80 has had intermittent starting issues for a while. Turn the key and it cranks find]e sometime and then others it wouldn’t turn over. Lights were always on the dash if it cranked or not. I previously rebuilt the starter and wondered if something went sideways there but haven’t...
I’m not getting any codes now. I got codes after I replaced the O2 sensors but before I disconnected the battery. Now I’m not getting the CEL or codes with my reader.
My sons 96 80 series had the check engine light come on. I got codes PO130 and PO133. So I replaced the O2 sensors with Densos. The old ones were pretty crusty and looked like they never had been replaced.
However, I still have those 2 codes and now I’m also getting PO171.
Thoughts on what...
My son’s wiper motor is frozen and my attempt to rebuild it didn’t rectify the problem. Hoping to find a used working one here that I can buy. Let me know if you have one to sell. Thanks!
My wife was driving my son's 80 when it was raining. Turned it off to run in a store, came back out and turned it on and the wipers are frozen in place. They don't respond at all to being turned on or off now.
I checked the fuse and it is still good. Thoughts on where to turn next? Did a search...
So I pulled a 10A fuse from a headlight and plugged it in to the engine slot. Wouldn’t you know it that I got 13.5 V at my battery. That was it!
I couldn’t believe it! And my truck run smooth again. Makes total sense now!! Always something simple right in front of me.
My wife just happened to...
@OTRAMM’s diagram showed three fuses that are all in the fuse box that need to be checked. I visually checked them and they looked fine. But @OTRAMM strongly encouraged a continuity test on them.
So thinking I had a bad ignition switch I started to do more research on replacing that. I ran across @OTRAMM video on alternators that is worth a watch. Here is is:
So here’s the update. It looks like I’m finally going to be able to close the loop on this one! I took @duncanrm advice and studied more about alternators than I thought I could.
Did you know that most alternators don’t just start producing power when the belt is running? I didn’t but now I...
