Could you share how one would do that? I thought the 25 year rule was pretty solid, except for a few carve-outs for things like training/instruction, and even then it can't stay in the US for more than a year. I'd love to find out that there is another method.
Sorry to resurrect such an old thread. As someone with an 03 V8 4Runner, with a mild lift and 32s who drives pretty cautiously off road, is this something I should be concerned about replacing (before it breaks)? It looks like a pretty easy job, other than having to take the skids back off, so...
I've been to the Appalachian Toyota Roundup a couple of times, and think I'm going to hit this one this year. Are there a decent mix of trails for those with mildly built rigs?
Let’s say you had the chance to buy a nice late model GX. Good mileage, rust free, decent color combination. But the head unit doesn’t work. Which means there’s a number of things you couldn’t check on a pre-buy inspection (I’m assuming you couldn’t check HVAC with the head unit non-functional)...
I never liked the factory alloy rims that came on the SR5 4th Gen, so I finally did something about it. I have always liked the old Land Cruiser 'steelie' wheel look and I found a company in California that allegedly had five spare 4Runner rims in stock. I'm not 100% happy with the rims, as...
At the recommendation of someone on this site, I spoke to my local Toyota dealership and they had factory rebuilt OEM CV axles. All factory parts rebuilt by a service technician. I don’t recall the price, but I seem to recall it was less than half what new factory units went for.
I took it up to Anniston last weekend for the Alabama State USPSA match...
...And spent the morning playing around in the Taladega National Forest on forest road 600/Skyline Drive. It's about 14 miles long, and not very difficult--but fun for a Floridian who doesn't have a rock to drive over...
Just out of curiosity, is there any way to wire a switch to allow all dome/accessory lights to be turned off when a door is open? It would be nice to have the option at a campsite to allow all the lights to be switched off, without disconnecting the battery.
Added an iPad holder for navigation. RAM mount so it can swivel to face the passenger. Turned out pretty well.
I also added a cup holder I found at WalMart in the RV section. It fits perfectly in the factory cup holder, and makes it so that cups/bottles will actually sit in the holder...
If any good comes out of the Coronapocolypse, my yard looks great, the house is clean, and I fixed the transfer case actuator myself.
Those that mentioned checking with the local Toyota dealership were correct. They were willing to do it, but at nearly $1,700 in labor. I honestly didn't...
A few more pictures and some video that I added. I didn't get any video of many of the really good / challenging obstacles, as everyone was trying to stay on task, instead of clogging the trail with amateur cameramen running around. Also, the videos just don't give you any degree of...
This event was amazing. I went to the first one back in 2015, and it has grown exponentially since then. There were more than 700 attendees, and over 400 rigs. FJs were most prevalent, then 5th gens. Tacomas and 4th gens were next, with a few LCs as well. The event was well organized and...
