Hi everyone, been an 80s model lover for a long time. I got a 1999 100 series model recently with just under 200k miles. Running great and we were really happy with it. Then I saw I had a coolant leak needed a new radiator decided to get timing belt done aswell from my mechanic. They put a kit...

Leaking fuel at filler neck under truck

Has anyone tried doing a custom one out of plastic? Maybe a plastic replacement could flex and fit inside as one piece?

    Birfield inspection

While replacing the axle seal on the passenger side, decided to disassemble the birfield to see what it looks like. We are not psyched about all the wear& tear and the chips we see. Will appreciate any input. How bad is this? Is it ok to sand the sharp edges, repack everything and drive like...

    Impossible bolts broken stud

Hi everyone just looking for some advice. I need to replace a busted y pipe. I broke a stud on the manifold. I think collector stud. These bolts look impossible to remove. Knuckle rebuilt - inspecting the hub

Thanks a lot! Great to know we can just go ahead as is. At this point, we are trying to finish the job asap so we won't bother opening the passengers' side to switch them but good to know for the future that this can save us some lifetime on birfs. We are working on the long side and tried...

Knuckle rebuilt - inspecting the hub

So we tried really hard, the pipe method and also the vice and hammer the star method neither of them worked. The joint seems and sounds fine, can we just clean it thoroughly and repack it with grease and reinstall it? Is there a necessity to disassemble and reassemble? Perhaps to inspect the...

Knuckle rebuilt - inspecting the hub

Still trying to get the axle detach from the bir field, meanwhile we see kinda a sulcus on the axle neck whereabout the seal seats. Do we need to replace this axle or if we get to position the seal away from that sulcus (as pin-head suggested), would it hold?

Knuckle rebuilt - inspecting the hub

Very limited sources Nd we are having a hard time separating the bir field from the axle. We have done this with the pipe method twice in the past with no problems. It just wouldn’t come out after pounding the pipe like 50 times this time. I have read other people having the same problem here...

Knuckle rebuilt - inspecting the hub

We will do the assembly tom so I can post a pic tom. I believe the grease goes over the groove where the spring sits. the differential face of the axle as oppose to the tire face if it makes sense. There is a video on YouTube which was very helpful for us:

Knuckle rebuilt - inspecting the hub

This makes a lot of sense. Don’t remember packing the back of the seal to secure the spring in our first go so will do it this time. Thank you very much.

Knuckle rebuilt - inspecting the hub

hi there Drivers side knuckle on our 96 fzj80 was leaking thin grease so here we are rebuilding the knuckle (outfitters kit). When we inspect the hub we see those chips and damages around the seal and racer areas. Would those chipped parts cause the seal to fail? Or are we good to go after...
