It makes it feel real! Saw an ad during the national broadcast of the season finale of a show my wife likes to watch (Survivor) that had the blue square headlight version of the LC as the first Toyota featured, and included the Tacoma, Tundra and 4Runner as well. Not exactly earth shattering...
My Sequoia hasn’t wanted to run in 4wd since shortly after I bought it. PO stated he had used it a few days before I bought the truck and everything was “fine”. To be fair, it has a stupid amount of money poured into it (he had receipts for $11,500 USD for suspension, tires, wheels, PM etc...
Anyone ever had the electric shift portion of this case act up? Mine seems to be not shifting completely, but dash light says it’s locked in to AWD mode. Trouble is, I have no gears in either forward or reverse when in 4x4 mode. CDL seems to actuate properly, and low range seems to work as...
So my Sequoia has not been able to shift into 4wd for a while now. It will, with some back and forth motion apparently complete the shift, and the 4WD light on dash comes on, but once it does, I’m essentially in neutral. No motion in either drive or reverse. This is the electronic shift from...
Anyone know of a tailgate assist shock made to fit 2nd gen Tundras? I got spoiled with the factory one on my Taco. The Tundra gate is pretty heavy for the wife to open without a bit of drama. I found an eBay listing for an OEM Toyota part, but I’m skeptica.

Can you run 17” wheels on a ’19 Tundra 4x4 Cmax? I have a set of new 35” Toyo MTs that are 17s and I’d hate to have to sell them. Lift will be installed obviously.
Okay. I’m having a hell of a time finding a Tundra that is in good enough shape to consider buying for even remotely sane dollars. I’m trying to narrow down my search parameters to the best truck for the job. I’d want either a 1st gen crew cab, or a 2nd gen double cab configuration. I guess...
I am in the process of selling my heavy truck camper and would like to get a lighter pop up. That could possibly lead to me selling my 3500 Cummins truck and getting a Tundra. I’d be looking at a ‘07-‘11 range of years most likely. Anyone hauling a camper on their 2nd gen?
Well, I sold my ‘89 4Runner (I was in it for $2000 and was offered $10,500) and decided to let it go. I only put 2000 miles on it in 3 years, so it was costing me more in insurance than I paid for it. This has freed up some spending money for the new Tacoma.
We got the Taco last spring...
My ‘Runner has decided to suddenly not want to crank. I’m 90% sure after some time with the trusty voltage tester that it’s likely the n/p switch. Does anyone have a FSM or link to wiring diagram so I can jump those wires to test?
Well, it may not be an actual emergency, but I need to know sooner than later. The wife gave the go ahead for a Softopper not long ago, and I’m planning on ordering one tomorrow. The big issue is color. My 4Runner is red, and we are thinking of going tan with tinted windows. It looks great...
I’m not much for build threads, but it seems to lead to hijacks when I mention my new ‘Runner in other threads, so I figured I’ll start this thread to minimize that, and allow others to hijack mine.
My plans are to have a light (easily towable) rig to do easy wheeling with while on road...
I’m using the Toyota vin decoder (link below) and it keeps telling me my vin is “invalid”. I can’t imagine it’s not coming up with anything because it’s a Canadian truck? It works for my US imported 100, but not the CDN 4Runner. I’m trying to get the specific options etc that it has. Vin is...
So I’m moments away from purchasing an ‘89 with the 3.0 auto (not my first choice) and the shifter is really sloppy. It functions fine, but I’d like it to be a little (lot) tighter. Is it just a matter of messing with the linkage, or is there a bushing or something that it pivots or rides in...
I searched a few different ways, and didn’t find anything on these. AC Delco is offering complete UCAs and they also have the 555 ball joints. Wondering if anyone has used either one? I’m considering buying the complete UCA since it has both bushings as well. The main concern is quality of...
I am listing this for a friend who I helped buy it. He is very tall and has a lower back and hip injury in his past and is regretfully selling it as he can’t comfortably drive it. He tried a 4th Gen 4Runner too.
The LX has 200k on it, but looks and drives like it has 20k. The interior is...
Anybody know of a good mechanic in the area that could do timing belt and starter service in a '99 UZJ100? I'm in the Whiterock area, but could possibly get it elsewhere.
I would normally do this myself, but have been out of the country for a while and can't put off my own business any longer...
We went away for a couple of weeks and as a precaution I removed the EFI relay for theft prevention. Upon returning home, I reinstalled the relay and went to start the 100. No crank at all, and there is a buzzing noise coming from the starter area. After looking at multiple search results on...
