I still really want to do this in a pre-smog vehicle, If I can find a clean fj40 to put on an FJ80 frame, This would be pretty fun, and probably worth the investment.
Well I started pricing out the conversion, and with a new transmission mounting plate, and a bunch of other extras required I did the math and realized it was probably a $20,000 conversion on the low end. I sure loved my 80 but When the motor died, priced out a bunch of 5.3 swaps and of course...
It still doesn't start, but seems to be "deiseling" a little bit after trying to want to start, meaning after I let off the key to try and start, it sputters for a while, turning over few more rotations.
Moved the Front runner rack from the 80 series with some new Hardware. I'm very happy with them for the ease of swapping Hardware, and quite impressed with the fit and finish.
I will be doing more diagnostic on the engine today about 11:30 a.m. going to check compression spark and fuel. Previously I have not had the time to even check these simple items.
