Thank you! I saw an earlier thread where you did say the lengths are indicated in the part numbers. That’s really good to know. Even the parts catalogues with vin give me two options. Hopefully this is helpful to someone else as well. I appreciate the response.
I’m seeing two versions listed, but I don’t know which I need. Mine is the one in the left diagram, 88310A, without the viscous heater. 1998 JDM HDJ101. Is it 99364-31240 or is it 99364-31720? I can’t find which is which. Thanks.
Misunderstanding here. NH Oil Undercoating is the real deal and (in my opinion) the preferred product. It’s oily stuff that will wipe off (it does not harden or encapsulate) but creeps and adheres tenaciously. Should also be reapplied annually.
Fluid Film is a consumer version that comes in a...
Hmmmm…. Interesting. That seems to contradict consensus but I have no experience myself. My mechanic is pretty sure he’ll have to pull the head to do a Helicoil but is willing to try the Time-Sert with it still on the block. To me the difference in labor is worth to give it a shot. I may feel...
It’ll be a Time-Sert installed with head on the block (unless everyone here shouts otherwise). Mechanic says the cylinder looks clean so far with boroscope. Should only take a little time, if it’s unsatisfactory we can always pull the head and readdress it. Checking all plugs for signs of back...
I blew out my #4 plug yesterday looks like it worked itself loose, knocked a ton, finally threw miss fire codes, then blew. I towed it to the shop, they’re going to try a helicoil.

#4 spark plug blew out. Probably had worked loose and that caused the knocking? Then the drive home was too much for it; I think it blew out in my driveway (almost made it). The shop’s going to try a helicoil in the head. Fingers crossed…...
Thank you @Mauser. I’ll pass that info along. Truck’s on its way to the shop now.
I may be a fool I’ll see how it turns out: I drove home (knocking the whole way) so I could leave my kids. Coolant temp stayed fine throughout the drive at 186-190. Just as I pulled up to my garage at the top of...
I’ve been planning to replace my Bank 2 rear sensor to fix the P0156 code. Just reading now it looks like first I should check for vacuum leaks or exposed wire/loose connections. Any thoughts on this?
I usually get the code after climbing a long hill near my house around 50mph. Light comes on...
Thank you @Mauser ill try disconnecting the battery. And I’ll address the O2 sensor that may be bad. Could be related to the p0156 I’ve had popping up. Maybe it’ll go away.
2006 LX. I’ve been getting an occasional P0156 the past few months, it always goes away on its own I’m not sure it’s related.
This morning I started to feel the engine running rough. Then a real rough idle and a knocking sound. No CEL. I thought maybe coil pack.
Then slow blinking CEL but no...
I have a 275/70R18 KO2 spare under mine right now. It fits snug with no adjustments. Don’t think you could go much bigger. I’ve definitely posted pics in some other thread.
This is exactly right. Except, your back won’t droop. Even with tons of weight. It’s controlled by the height sensor and kept ‘leveled’ until there’s too much weight and then rising pressures in the system can’t compensate and so it eliminates High mode. Then, with even more weight, it won’t go...
