    I bought one of these 8 Inch RG58 SMA Female to UHF SO239 Female Adapter Cable for Wouxun Baofeng USA | eBay so I wouldn't strain the connector on the HT. Easy connection to the HT.

    7-way round trailer harness plug for ham power

    My Kenwood Specs say it pulls 11 Amps during transmit. I use direct hot and ground straight to the Battery in my installations. Can't remember the gauge, but it's probably around 14 and fused at the battery end. Personally that is the only way I would make connections.
