I might just go back to 80 series brake pads.
The rotors and calipers are new/remanufactured stuff from an fzj80 because my cruiser is a jdm HDJ81 and comes with unobtanium brake parts
Last week I purchased an FZJ80 front brake setup up for my hdj81.
Install all the new stuff and it worked great still not the best brakes but they worked better than the JDM stuff.
yesterday I purchased 100 series ceramic pads from napa to seek a slight margin of improved brakes.
Lone behold...
Well before you go and rebuild your injectors for an obscene amount try Diesel Purge from Liqimoly
My cruiser felt like it was cutting fuel in high RPMs.
now after I purged the truck it feels like it got some balls again.
it is a really!!! powerful detergent so it may also find a leaky return...
I can't completely disagree with your statement. I have had bad and good luck with both gassers and diesels from Toyota.
I think most people are asking things of these diesel's that they were never intended to do. like big turbos, more fuel, towing massive caravans doing 100kms up a grade, etc...
I thought I was gonna have to be in the same boat as you to rebuild my engine.
Great Thread! definitely gonna follow this one for my enviable rebuild of my 1HD-T
I would see if the Machine shop will drill and tap the block for bigger head studs.
Research says thee oil pump is a good one to...
Ya I checked the can and the lines it seemed to be fine, but I replaced them with a 3/4 inch hose till I get a new catch can setup.
I thought the system needed the suction from the turbo to get rid of the gasses from the head?
I would prefer to run a vent tube past the frame like 5.9 Cummins.
Update: thanks to everyone for the advice. (Toyota Diesels FTW):grinpimp:
480-500 across the cylinders without adding oil, which was way better than I thought it would ever do with 327k km on the clock.
I don't know if doing it through the glow plugs was the easiest. especially with my sausage...
Update, even though my friend who owns a diesel shop said it's just the PCV being clogged.
I am gonna compression test it anyway.
is there a certain way you remove the fuel cutoff solenoid without damaging it?
or do you remove a fuse?
Awesome! thanks
😂 watch this thing blow 500 and still have blow-by. This truck has been an Enigma since I imported it from the mother land like a old grandma protesting about that god damn new technology. Maybe I’ll sign her up for bingo and water aerobics.
I’ll try that tomorrow, but I think it’s blowing the rings at 20psi because she’s loose old whore, so might as well face my fate and compression test it.
Lol I meant because I’m use to cummaparts with bull**** grid heaters.
And ya I can’t complain it was 65 today.
What is acceptable compression psi for 1hdt with 300k in your opinion?
Hi Guys,
I have a 1992 Toyota land cruiser HDJ81 w/ slushbox with a GTurbo HD-G300 and a PDI front mount. (327K kms)
recently add gauges so I can turn up the boost and fuel.
here's the problem I set the pump compensator spring to 20 psi and turned the pin to max fuel.
All is fine at 15-18psi...
