    I passed. Overall ok but the fact it's overheated a couple of times, the fender work etc.... at this point I don't want to jump into a project and / or immediate head gasket replacement. Tires are shot too so there's added expense there as well.

    Nice. I just had a Carfax done. Sideswiped in 2005. Tags are current but I'll insist on smog of course, being in CA the seller has to do that anyway.

    Apparently the issue with the fender was a missing flare. When they bought it, that one was missing. Sourced a fender that had the flare. Instructions to body shop were "replace/add the flare". Body shop interpreted that as "replace the fender". But it doesn't match anyway so ??? Will go...

    As long as there is no check engine light or code the engine throws it's just visual inspection. Depends how well they know the type of vehicle or care to look I suppose.
