    The H55F was really just a H42 with a fifth gear external housing bolted on the back and had an inherent fault where some would pop out of gear while driving if one let off the gas while driving downhill. He means to say his does not have this issue.

    I believed the late 4 speed tcase came with the fifth gear oiler provision. So all you’re stealing is the selector shaft, detent cap spring ball and possibly the seal/boot? You might as well use the shaft from your current case it’s essentially all the same just doesn’t have the detent notch...

    You probably don’t care but there is a way to convert your vacuum case to manual. All you need for parts if your handy with a drill/tap and grinder is: Spring Detent ball bearing 3/8 3/8 brass or steel bung 4wd selector seal/boot And the shifter linkage arm for a manual
