Thank you. That is good info. Understanding the process will certainly help in selection of options. I always wanted to change the jets but now I am moving to sea level so it makes sense to advance it a little for now until I move.
Thanks for the name. As far as the put a light on it, I thought the octane selector was for the purpose of easily changing the timing when you change elevations and not have to get the timing light out when you go into the mountains on a hunting trip. Am I wrong?
Some time back I saw a post that discussed advancing the timing for altitude. Someone said what the degree of of change was for each click on the little gizmo on the distributor. I can't find it now and I'm at 8500 feet. Anyone recall what it is? (Might as well remind me what the little knob...
Hey cuencanolenny. How goes it. I've had one nightmare after another. I fix one thing and something else went wrong. But this morning I think I'm good to go. I can make to your place so we can tune it up. If the offer is still open, how does your schedule look?
I had to pull out the points for my first time and I would like to know if these screws are supposed to be loose. 79 2F non-USA. looks like an original distributor.
I have a three wire system and can't find a proper VR here. So I have a New Era AVR 811 that I'm trying to make work. Are the terminals identifiable from the back? Or do I have to open it up?

Now I am in Cuenca. The Amaluza I'm at is almost on the border with Peru. South end of Loja Province. Almost straight south of Catemayo (East of City of Loja). Gotta bad battery I think. Showing 9v. Must have a dead cell. Gotta buy one before I can get it started
Cuencanolenny. I went to Amaluza to get my tools. That's why I haven't made arrangements to come over. However, my tools don't include a timing light. So, it the offer is still open...
I would certainly like to. Tomorrow we are moving to a different place for our last month here. But after that, could I send a message and set up a time to do that?
Right now I'm at Solano and 10 de agosto. Been here in town for a couple months. The wife's sick and she's being treated here. Next month we are moving to the coast
I have conflicting or at least confusing info on VR wiring like color codes, connector pinning sequence and the wiring diagram.
Is it possible to identify which terminal is which? Then I can pin the connector appropriately. IG, E and F
Gracias
This is a New Era avr-811
