My plan is to reattach the lower part of the rail at the top of the picture in its original position. Then add 1x1 boxed steel to the top part of the rail in the middle of the picture above. This will give me 1 inch of rise. In doing the added piece of boxed steel will be cut 2.25 inches...
I figure if I take apart the rails drilling our the rivets I can adjust the assembly to utilize this space and gain 2.5 inches of leg room and another 1 inch in seat height.
Has anyone ever torn apart there seat rails to restore and thought adjusting the set up to create more leg room?
Previously I used the standard kit to gain 2 inches of leg room. However even with that I find that the there is still room to move the seat back another 1.5 -2.5 inches. However...
Hay fellas....I have had the same problem with my saginaw conversion....disassembled and reinstalled and found some binding issues with the u joint. But still had some creeking....I had my 7 year old sit in the seat and turn the wheel for me a few times and was finally able to narrow it down...

Dismantled my Saginaw power steering conversion to figure out why it was binding and clicking with every revolution. After disconnecting the gearbox and and turning the wheel it appears that the upper borgeson u joint is binding because the angle is just over 35 degrees.

I am missing several of the internal nuts under the dash for the windshield bolts. If I remember correctly the nuts are housed in a bracket in side the dash...(i think). None the less I am missing several of these nuts which requires me to bust my knuckles to mount the windshield...
