There was a 4x4 focused cars and coffee event in Utah up in the mountains that I decided to attend with my 40. This was the farthest I've ever driven it and the first time it's been in the canyons in my ownership. It was an adventure and I look forward to fixing some things and to do it again...
@jwall3000
I used an eletribuffer and some polishing compound and just went slow to avoid cutting or burning through the paint. It didn’t take much for the shine to start coming through and was in much worse shape than your paint. That should buff up pretty quick and look way better!
@dmaddox...
Small update: Fan controller cooked so it was bypassed so the fan would run all the time and apparently my battery didn't like that and died on an outing. Will have to replace the controller now haha.
Also added a new project to the fleet!
Need to buff the paint again since it has faded from sitting again and that should blend it all in pretty well. Then clean up some over spray and this sides good to go!
The plan with the 35’s was to make room for it to be drivable. Since I have a stock 40 already i dont mind chopping this one some since its more restomod at this point already.
Drawing out the plan.
Then start chopping. We cut the lip off and will reuse it to keep the quarter panels...
@Will Van yup thats how its on there. It flexs a little with the weight but not bad and doesn’t make any noise on mine.
Another update is i got new tires to try. They are 35’s and im not sure they will fit so i got one mounted to try it out and see if i like the look or not.
Cowl finally getting some attention.
Should be painted tomorrow! Then il start on some other spots
Then the scary part...
Outside all buttoned up. Just need to connect under the hood tomorrow!!
Long over due update. Cruiserfest 2019 is rapidly approaching and i would really like to drive this turd there this year. So started by getting a winch finally put on. Warn 8274 that matches the condition of the rest of the vehicle.
Also ordered some more paint to finish the spots that...
Guess its time to update this since i have been working on mt 40 more lately.
Got a hi lift so we made a mount for it.
Then painted in black and called it good
Then came the scary part. Ive always loved the look of the donaldson filters ive seen on australian cruisers so when i...
@dirtywilks
Thanks for compliment! Its getting there slowly but surely. I have a list of some more stuff i want to do until its “done” or i make another list of more i want to do haha.
Thanks I will have to give that a try!
I have considered eventually running stock wheels and going to a 33x10.5" We will see if that ever happens though.
Yeah their instagram account is what what made choose to do this style mount. I love it!
Bumper done. 5” cut off each side, winch plate welded and shackle mounts added.
Winch waiting for a new motor.
Bumper area all cleaned up and ready to go.
Restored a Warn 5687 for the front bumper. Cut 5” off the ends of the bumper and have a fairlead coming next week. Mocking it up now and it’s looking perfect.
Old fuel pump died 2 days before cruiserfest so we had to take my Dad’s cruiser to that instead. Found what I can tell is the closest replacement for what was on there and it just arrived. So that needs to go in this week. Considered switching over to a mechanical pump but the engine mount is in...
