I've been using Mobil 1 10W-30 since I got my 94 FJ-80 at 14,000 miles. Still have good compression at 393,000. I'll change the oil every 10 to 15K. Not changing the brand it's worked so far. At this point it's the small things that are starting to show their age.
Lost the drivers side end cap and trim to the front bumper of my 94 Land Cruiser. Front bumper, an ebay replacement, has a small dent in it. I'm looking to either replace the end cap or the whole front bumper assembly with a third party unit. This is a daily driver that will ultimately be...
Do LC's adjust the engine based on the type of gas used? If they do, I'll have to try high Octane. I usually run the lowest Octane=cheapest gas that I can. Typically I get in the 12-13 mpg range in mixed driving with no ping. I assumed the engine didn't compensate for Octane, and since...
Not sure where they are but I know I've replaced them several times. I can't imagine you running well without them. Your check engine light comes on when you start the LC doesn't it? If they're not there the check engine light will be on.
Looking myself for a shop that does a lot of LC work. I had Mardinley in Broomall do my Head Gasket 2 years back. It wasn't cheap but their job has lasted about 85K miles so far.
I seem to be having a recurring Check Engine Light that we're not able to resolve. Engione is in good shape with 371K miles on her. Generally she runs and idles smoothly with no burning of oil. Idle does smell rather rich.
First time the Check Engine Light came on about a month ago...
Sully, ditto! All total it took me about 30 minutes, gathering tools etc. Fortunately the nut holding the antenna down was only finger tight anyway. I could see that my nylon was slightly damaged from the previous break but it still looks plenty strong.
If you hadn't provided the tip on...
Thanks much! The picture makes all the difference in the world. I found the grey connector under the hood right where yours is. No cable plugged in to it. So someone removed this cable on me at one point in time. I'm going to connect it together this weekend and will report back on my...
Mark, I think that's exactly what I have. Since my original one is missing I had no idea how it ran. The one that came with the axle looks complete with factory connectors on both sides. the only drawback is it looks like the hose that feeds into the actuator (I'm assuming it is vacuum)...
I've been doing a lot lately to bring everything up to par on my 94 Cruiser with 370K miles. My factory lockers worked at one point in time. I've noticed that they haven't worked for the last several years. I chalked it up to axle problems.
I put a used front axle on from a Lexus 450 with...
My 94 Cruiser just hit 370K today. Unfortunately to mark the milestone the brake pedal started to get extremely difficult to push. At first it was intermitent. It quickly progressed to being difficult to push all the time.
Is this probably the Power Brake Booster? If so, is a rebuild...
Thanks.
I also checked a few places on the Internet out yesterday. I found two axles that could be delivered to my place for around $900. They both had lockers and ABS. They both have 120K on them.
Hopefully at 120K they won't need much work. It's either that or the rebuilt unit...
Today, at 361,000 miles the dealer told me that I would be smart to find a used axle rather than rebuild the axle on my 1994 Land Cruiser. I just don't have the time or interest to try to do this myself. They said it would be about $400 to replace the existing axle with the used axle.
I've...
Thanks for the links. What scares me about this job is probably the same thing that scared the $4500 dealer. When you start looking at the diagrams and you try to see what could be causing the play I wonder if the axle housing has damage too.
Here's the other part of my situation. This is...
