I've seen this with diesel getting past the rings and increasing the engine oil level. Not a good thing as it required a rebuild of the entire engine. I'd recommend a compression test to rule it out.
You're talking about the alternator regulator right?
Can you try re-grounding the regulator? I know its a little redundant, but its so amazing how well this worked for me.
My edic was intermittent, the voltage gauge was screwy and it ended up as bad grounds - one obvious one, and 2 or so...
I agree with Wayne...sort of..
Not sure about the legalities of things, but the practice sure makes a difference. I remember booting down that frozen river, and up those shear ice hill climbs at River Shiver, and then learning how to reverse down without locking the brakes when I lost traction...
If anyone cares....
one of the main (other than being beefy as hell) reasons the 8274 can run at the higher voltage (for those lucky enough to have a good motor and solenoids) is where the motor is located. Heat is our biggest problem here from the resistance of the higher voltage, and...
you need a "star" to upload photos properly. (ie. contribute).
This is a really impressive build up, and makes me actually hopeful of my attempt on the rebuild 70 now.
I just reached (according to the Garmin) 132km/h on my 1986 BJ70....(296000km's on her) I must have had a hell of a tailwind going downhill, but the truck still felt steady. Didn't quite realize the speed as I was cruising an interstate in Wisconsin and just keeping up with traffic...
David*BJ70 is the chap in Quebec. Just about to order a few sets of the quarter panels. If you do a search you'll find photos of them. They look really good
Does anyone know if the 60 and 70 wiper motors are the same. I'm referring to the entire unit, as mine on the 70 has died and I'm having a heck of a time trying to replace it. OR...are any of the RHD units compatible? (or anything else?????)
Its a CDN Spec (I can't believe I have to say...
Hey folks, I need some help...or some parts.
My intermittent stopped on the wipers a while back, so after checking all obvious steps, I tore apart the front of the wiper motor where the motor gets its power (the gear drive contact thingy). I found the top most terminal/copper extender...
Hey folks, I'm looking for the whole kit-and-caboodle for a 24V BJ70 wiper motor. My motor is toast, as is the little gear-drive-contact thingy attached to it. (IE> one of the contacts is completely burnt out, and ate away at the plastic part of the contact face)
Any help, preferably in...
so with the boys that are running 12v 8274's on your 24v trucks (yes I know the risks!!!..and your welcome to respond with "my buddy did this..." to save your own butt ;p ) did anyone try just rewiring the solenoids to run in series, yet leave the 12v motor as is? I'm lugging through the...
Oh yes, no worries on the "using my head" part of things. I will certainly be aware of all you have mentioned in your posts, and the voltage issue is well understood as I've had the truck for quite a few years now and had to initially chase down a few "modifications" to the first battery being...
did you guys wire it up the same as expected or did you change the wiring of the solenoids at all. I just got my 8274 12V and am going to set it up on my 24V BJ70. I've seen that you can change the wiring from parallel to series fairly easily.
