I admit, I’m sensitive to rust...hyper might be a stretch though. I’ve had both, rust free and rust buckets (older Toyotas). I’ve learned my lesson on working on Rusted out trucks...I’ll leave that to those that enjoy endless rabbit holes corrosion causes on a rig....
Sounds like you have a leak that might be getting air in the system causing the spongy breaks. I would try and identify where the leak is coming from first before anything else.
The smell I couldn’t exactly tell. The sound was definitely at the canister. The hoses could be in better shape, so I should probably replace those first.
Just have to say I drool over your rig every time I pass your house....Pictures almost do it justice....only because they are great pics. Wish I was in a position to take it off your hands. Good luck...I'll certainly miss seeing it.
Just wanted to see if anyone was interested; I got frustrated about a month ago when the grinding noise came back after 3 months of rebuilding the ABS motor and decided to buy a used complete unit online. Not sure if that was the best idea, but it’s installed and working. If anyone is interested...
I did. Those actually have to be disconnected to remove the motor. I cleaned them as well. They weren’t that bad.
Also, I checked my spacing from the rubber stops and they didn’t look out or whack at all. I just wish I knew if that noise was the pump or the motor itself. I can’t believe it...
I pulled the motor/pump and accumulator from the MC, leaving the MC in. It was a bit of a pain to put back together and align the lines correctly to keep them from cross threading. I will check the alignment of rubber stops you mentioned above for sure and report back.
(I posted this on a different thread originally...so if you're see this twice sorry)
Okay, so I rebuilt my booster pump motor (sent it to Charlie at Eurton in California) and reinstalled it, bled the brakes, went on a dirt road and activated the ABS several times, then bled the brakes again...
Okay, so I rebuilt my accumulator motor (sent it to Charlie at Eurton in California) and reinstalled it, bled the brakes, went on a dirt road and activated the ABS several times, then bled the brakes again. All seemed to be fine until a few days later it started to buzz again. BUT there were no...
Ya, I’m sure I’ll do the same thing. When it comes to dropping that kind of money I always chicken out...like pretending I’m going to talk to a girl that’s out of my league...LOL
I think you can buy it in two different assemblies - pump and accumulator, and the MC. I might part it together as...
