I learned this was a common problem with Icons unfortunately and I needed the car running asap. I called all the official Icon rebuilders and their wait times were a bit too long. Lesson learned.
Yep, I knew that going into it. I also am lead to believe the shop messed something up.
But what I want to know specifically is if anyone has seen something like this happen before? If the bottom of the reservoir has exploded off upon compression. And if so, if they know why that happened...
A local shop that should know how to rebuild them did it. What's weird is that the suspension hasn't been cycled a lot since it was rebuilt. I've hardly been able to use the truck since then, just a few (longer) highway trips.
Was driving into a parking lot and heard a loud pop as I went up the curb. Shocks aren't that old but I did have this one rebuilt a few thousand miles ago. He didn't touch the external reservoir. He charged it to 150 psi. Any ideas?
Yep, did this with mine. And there really isn't a need to send it to an authorized service center in reality. Icon's warranty will end and you can easily find someone to rebuild them for you for a lot cheaper than some of those shops on the list.
