What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week?

had a fuel leak from the carb line at the tank. To really get at it i decided to take the gas tank cover off, which meant the seats had to go... took the opportunity to add a missing gromet (thanks City Racer), and went from this: to this:

    2F Engine + AC + Soft Top

I have a 2F with a Vintage Air and a Trollhole soft top. The 2F seems to handle it fine. The Vintage Air can keep the front seats (driver and passenger) cool, even in the Houston summers. Haven’t had any rear seat riders to tell how it is back there. @3_puppies is right though, your feet can...

#2. I really like my Vintage Air. You live in Texas, so AC > Literally Everything Else.

1969 No Brake Lights (all others working)

The 78’s running like a champ. Really glad the weather’s going to be good enough to run topless for while! Good luck with the brake lights - electrical’s a PITA.

1969 No Brake Lights (all others working)

Don’t know crap about a ‘69, but if your ‘69 Harness resembles the ‘70 that Trollhole posted here: Wiring schematics Then it looks like the hazards and the brakes are on different circuits.

What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week?

This was enough to cut three panels to fit under the factory front mat - less than $20 at home despot. I plan to trim it down to a centimeter or so smaller than the mat and attach to the back of the mat with double sided tape so I can pull the whole thing out if it gets wet.

What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week?

Got tired of hot feet and went with a ghetto heat shield.

'70 FJ40 Spectre Wire Harness issues / questions

Pity the wire numbering doesn’t seem to match the KwikWire conventions, but I’m sure you can figure it out. I’m no electrician either. once you focus on the individual circuits, you will be able to slog through. I like to think of the power as coming from the fuse block, and then tracing it...

'70 FJ40 Spectre Wire Harness issues / questions

What year's your 40? I ask as your switches may not match mine. Attached is my most updated diagram. Happy to talk you through it if needed. When I bought this cruiser the wiring harness was rigged for bare minimal necessary operation - the running lights and headlights were wired off the...

'70 FJ40 Spectre Wire Harness issues / questions

I'm not positive, but that fuse block looks a whole lot like the Kwik Wire that's installed in my 78. I've posted a bit about it here - '78 (Re)wiring Advice (Kwik Wire 14) If it is the same harness and block, I can walk you through how mine is set up. Feel free to pm.

For Sale TOYOTA FJ40 IN BRING A TRAILER

I don’t know., “Columbia” is a College in Manhattan, not a country in South America (that’s “Colombia”). Maybe it was sold new on the upper west side in 1908.

How do I remove my gauge cluster?

I had to reach up under the dash and disconnect the speedo cable in order for the top of the housing to clear the dash cutout... maybe I’m doing it wrong. In any event, it’s a giant PITA. Definitely going to try that dremel tip.

    '78 (Re)wiring Advice (Kwik Wire 14)

Here's my current diagram. Let me know if you can't follow it. I could probably draw a diagram of just the Hazard Switch if you needed. In the diagram "KW" is a reference to the Kwik Wire wires, the numbers and words in quotes are the KW number and description, and the one or two letter color...

What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week?

Connected the hazard switch, and with that now functioning was able to get it to pass inspection! I can't say it's exactly freeway worthy, what with the crazy drivers in Houston, but it's legal. Thank god Texas doesn't require an emissions test!
