What did you do with your 60 this weekend?

Awesome. I was just in Sandy this weekend. I didn't realize there was a good little bit of snow farther up the mountain already.

To H55 or not, that is the question

Putting an H55 into the '62 really helps with the power since the automatic transmission really sucks the power out of the 3FE.

To H55 or not, that is the question

My H42 also shifted easier between gears. With the gearing closer together, it just made in-city driving much easier. I'm always fighting a bit with the gearing on the H55 when driving a lot in-city. I'll probably keep the H42 in my next land cruiser. But I do really like traveling long...

To H55 or not, that is the question

I really like my H55/4.11/35s setup for highway and off-road. But I do miss the H42 for in-city driving.

Alaska Cruiser Trek 2020? Discussion opportunity/chance for input as the decision time is approaching.

The last time I looked into the ferries, it was significantly more to ferry all the way to Anchorage. And the scheduling was very limited. It was much cheaper (and more interesting imo) to ferry to and drive out of Haines or Skagway.

Alaska Cruiser Trek 2020? Discussion opportunity/chance for input as the decision time is approaching.

Completely understandable and the wise thing to do. But bummed nonetheless. Life is what it is. Hope things can work out in the future.

    Looking up parts numbers

Hey, I'm just getting back in to working on my land cruisers. What is the best way to look up parts numbers now? I did a quick search but didn't find anything. I'm replacing the fuel gauge sending unit on my 60 and the radiator on the 80. Thanks.

Alaska Cruiser Trek 2020? Discussion opportunity/chance for input as the decision time is approaching.

I really enjoyed the trek in 2010. It was great having a day to go fishing, a day up on the glacier, a half-day at the gold mine, and the last day cooking fish on the campfire. But the really memorable parts were the water crossings and working our way through the mud. It would be great...

I am all set for a trek in 2022. This is very exciting.

    Builds Lumpy the LandCruiser

The o-ring/clips started leaking for me fairly quickly (and I'm fairly certain I got new OEM clips & o-rings when I did it, but it was 12 years ago). So, I didn't decide to solder it until after it was confirmed that they wouldn't work. My preference would be to keep the o-ring/clip but that...

19 Years old, never worked on a car before and got a HJ61... Looking for general guidance/resources

The Diesel Tech / 24 Volt section on MUD does have a lot of good info for your 12H-T engine.

19 Years old, never worked on a car before and got a HJ61... Looking for general guidance/resources

Welcome! I'm just getting back into fixing mine, and now also collecting a few more. I would recommend starting at the endpoints before working through the harness. 1. Make sure the battery is in good enough condition to hold a charge. 2. Check that the alternator is working. 3. Then start...

Stolen 1989 Land Cruiser Please Keep an Eye Out

I completely disagree. I think political rants should be in chat. I am here to work on my land cruiser, not to have to deal with other people's political views.

Stolen 1989 Land Cruiser Please Keep an Eye Out

Great to hear that was resolved responsibly well. Especially since I live in Portland. Glad I finally fit my 60 in the garage.

"Dumb" question about driving on-road in snow

Thanks, that's helpful. I don't go over 50 in these conditions. It's mainly snow right now with patches of slush/wet pavement. Tire pressure is at 29 but don't expect any speeds above 40mph.

"Dumb" question about driving on-road in snow

Follow question since I'm new to this particular aspect. Can I leave it in 4WD if it's just thick slush on the road? And is there any speed suggestion to keep it under when switching to 4WD and out of 4WD? The freeways here are snow/ice/freezing rain, then slush, then just wet, then back to...

"Dumb" question about driving on-road in snow

Thanks. Yeah, I'm familiar with Portland drivers. It snowed overnight so most people are staying in. There are just a few places I have to get to today and tomorrow. Much appreciated.
